No!!!

Hang two w/o holes on wall (or pass along - hint hint), buy two repro ones with holes, drag them around behind the GOAT a bit and they’ll be worthy for the front wheels with hubs.

That’s probably the best choice. I’ll message you about it.

I sent @Speedsail2001 an email to see if I can just get two new fronts.

I got some new battery cables from Mud vendor @Fourrunner installed. Very nice cables. I run them on my 40.

I got the heater valve in place but it’s hopelessly stuck. I’ll be on the lookout for a replacement or just put something generic in line and replace this one with an elbow.

My Beno box with hose clamps will be here tonight. I should be able to get fluids in it to see if I have leaks.

SOR sells them, but they’re out....

Thank you Daniel.

Got a bit done tonight. Treated the new fender with Rust Inhibitor and then hit it with CLR after 5 hours cure time

I swapped the correct fender badge on to the “new” fender

I realized how bad the front end was out of whack when I put the fender on

I broke out the dead blow hammer and went to town.

Before I swap in the drivers side fender I’ve got to massage the grill to work with the new fender. I’m going to have to pull it out forward. Likely use my little warn portable winch.

I think it all matches pretty nicely

Nolen,

I still have the flanges that came off Patina when you put in the disk brake axle. They are yours.

I wonder if they work with a ball and claw outer axle? I’ve got no clue.

That said I’m waiting to hear if I can buy two repro fronts

They don`t need discs.
They stop with drums very well.
But that`s only my two ....
Drive J4s with drums since 1980 and I know what I write.:)
Cheers Peter

So CLR after the ruststop? Have you coated everything including non-rusted areas with the ruststop (since it’s kind of hard not to)? If so, then what is the CLR removing? I guess anything that hasn’t been bound up (cured) by the ruststop?

I’m happy with the way it turned out on Patina. I did not spray the whole truck just the heavy rusted areas. The CLR took off the overspray from the Converter.

I won’t spray the outside on The Goat. Just all internal engine steel and the frame and bottom of the tub.

Check out the last few posts in this thread. You can see how well it did taking the Rust Converter overspray off the paint. I don’t scrub the converted areas

Got the final pieces of the coolant party in place.

The upper hose came in from @cruiseroutfit For the record it’s an HJ60 upper with about 6” trimmed off the long end.

I got a bag of clamps from @beno and buttoned it all up. Vacuum lines new too. The plug in the carburetor base was a piece of Pinion pine.

None of my new belts fit but I found this one I replaced (I think when I put in the new 2F in my FJ60) that worked perfectly

These black clamps for the upper radiator hose are too cool

And after filling it all up with fresh fluid it fired up and idled perfectly with the new spark plugs and cables and cap.

Then I looked under the hood to see the thermostat housing is pissing fluid. Crap.

Pressure washed the antifreeze off everything then tackled the bodywork.

Popped off the drivers fender before I called it quits for the day

Glad that hose worked out Nolan, the error was totally my own. Bryce asked if the 60060 fit and I was 100% confident it would, I was in fact 100% wrong :) I should have walked out front and popped the hood on Candace's 45. That hose works nicely it seems but I think with a bit more time we can find a match that requires less trimming and thus less cost :D

Thanks again, it's been a ton of fun watching you bring this 45 back to life!
