Steering and handling at speed is not the issue at all it’s the non insulated firewall and tub. It makes the screaming 2F sound like a German dive bomber. I’m sure it’s fine but it freaks me out.

@fountainhead told me one time what RPM the 2F with 29’s and 85 mph was turning and it was a lot.

From earlier this year:

Nolen,

Any idea on RPMs?

Man no. 1:1 transmission, 4.11 gears and 700-15 tires. I'm assuming they are 30" tall.

That should give a close guess

700-15 are closer to 29" tall. With that, we can estimate the ole 2F was turning 3525.25 RPM.

4287.46 RPM at 90MPH...I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to run my 2F that high.

What is redline?

No clue. I found several posts, though, where folks state that they routinely run there's well up over 5k. Maybe 4300 ain't s***...

Edit for context - Lash's original question was based on a video showing Patina clocking 74 MPH on the GPS speedo. That worked out to 3525.25 RPM. 85 MPH should be around 4049.27 PRM.

Thanks JT. There is a tach on my FJ60 and Red starts at 4000 but with the EFI I find myself running it up over 4000 often for short blips, mainly in second and third

I love those tires on it, i ran similar 7.50x16 Firestone super all traction’s on a 40 for years. Really nice 40 Nolen

Radials would make more sense but I’m in love with the looks Dave

I unloaded trailer loads of those as a teenager. They had a green over white sticker on them...

The ones you sell now, what brand are they? Does firestone still do them

Really awesome project Nolan, I'm glad you've given that truck new life! You also make me want to cry because I haven't driven mine in over a year and a half (having kids takes a lot of time and money - who knew?). My goal is to make it to a CLC crawfish boil again and see Patina in person.

So y’all know my love for Rust Converter. It basically is all over Patina and Ole Blue and soon to be on the Goat.

I got a little silly with it on Patina for the first time on the outside and I really didn’t like how it made the paint looks look around the treated areas.

Not wanting to kill some of the really cool rust drips I just wanted to clean up the bad spots a bit.

I’ve been seeing CLR all over the 45 section so I bought a couple bottles.

I’m applying direct to a worn scotch brite and direct to Patina.

After.

Pretty cool stuff

My steering wheel has been all jacked up since I built this truck so this was the excuse I needed to pull it off and put it back on straight too.

Little stuff like this are so cool.
