Won a photo contest on another forum and the prize was a set of brake pads from EBC

Since the cars I actually used in the contest all have fresh pads and are barely driven, I had them send me a set for the Cruiser instead

They gave me a choice between their yellow pads (heavy duty) and their green pads (light duty)

I went with the green since they said the yellow is a bit harsh on rotors

Anyone here use these?

How are they compared to the OEM pads in terms of noise, dusting and overall service?

I have a set I was given in exchange for a favor. I read up on reviews and IIRC the reviews were s*** so up on the shelf they went. I won’t use them since OEM pads are just fine for my everyday use.

for the past few years before his death Kevin (Tools R Us) swore by EBC pads over OEM - so I got the green on my LX450, we may have them on the 80, too, I forgot

I have a set of well worn Green EBC pads on the rear brakes of my stock 96 FZJ80, no issues, but then it's possible that most of the braking in this 80 is being done by the front set of OEM 100 Series pads. Either way, no problems stopping.

When I overhauled the brakes on my '94 I decided to try the EBC greens. My brakes were so good (compared to before) that I found myself stopping a meter or 2 short of junctions. I thought it was the EBC's but they wore down quickly and I had a set of OEM's sitting on the shelf so used them instead. There was no difference in braking. The original improvement was most likely the 4 new calipers, 4 new rotors, new hoses and full flush of fluid. :meh:

Put ‘em on my 4Runner and they were fine, dusty though compared to OEM. Just did the rears on the 80 and went OEM since I already had em

I've gone back and forth over the years between OEM and EBC GreenStuff. I always come back to OEM. Truth be old, I notice no difference in lifespan or braking ability between the 2. OEM is sometimes cheaper if that's a concern.

...and they always fit too. I can't count how many times I've replaced OEM pads with store brands (because I needed them on a weekend) and spend more time filing them so the tabs would fit into the calipers than it was worth. I have a new pair sticking on a rotor now that I have to replace with OEMs; so that shortcut didn't get me anywhere.

My experience with EBC "green stuff" on the landcruiser is that they are also somewhat abrasive on the discs - (less than the Red - true), which I have on a Lexus GS300, but the discs still have to be considered as a consumable part. By the time a set of pads is worn, there will be a rim at the edge, and some grooving.
Putting a new set of pads on that involves some reduced surface contact, at least for a while.
I switched over to Powerstop Z23 carbon fiber/ceramic - 14.7K mi and still flat & smooth - no apparent disc wear.

I think EBC pads are good, but previous generation pad technology, which has been superseded.

Got Green stuff, but in 100 series. They seem to work well. Had OEM 100 series prior.

I don’t get much dust with my yellow and DBA rotors on the FZJ, the greens on my Subaru with stock rotors have tons of dust. So based on that experience I’m going to say the type of rotor needs to be factored into this equation.

I'm very happy with EBC Green Stuff pads in front (I used 100 series pads for longer life).

I have no experience with ebc, but the stickers look cool.
