I've got rad buddies.

Kind of a shame. I love the ride.
The US customer service is a joke.
The quality control in general is too.

Been enjoying following Clark along.

3FE desmog & fresh injectors

Minor update. Seemed to have developed a bit of a erratic idle, maybe better described as a slight miss or stumble, mostly noticeable in the exhaust note. Checked/adjusted valves and timing a few months ago so I know thats all good. Fuel pump/pressure regulator is all set from the tank work I did in March. Hadn't done a proper compression check in awhile so I started with that.

Miles: 263834
1 - 170
2 - 167
3 - 153
4 - 149
5 - 150
6 - 155

I think that's decent for the mileage. Well above the minimum. Cleaned and gapped the plugs. They all looked pretty good, no abnormal combustion issues showing.

Decided to install the rebuilt injectors I have for the spare engine. Aside from the injectors, the only other parts needed are the Orings (x6), Spacer cups (x6) and the intake tank to manifold gasket. Since I was in there, I decided to install the desmog kit I got from TLCPerformance awhile back.

To my delight it started right up and have no fuel or vacuum leaks. Short test drive reveals what seems to be slightly more pep and smoother idle. Also was surprised how much quieter the engine bay is without the smog pump... mine worked fine and wasn't "noisy"... or at least I didn't think so.

Oh and I went to see Exodus last week... I've seen them every decade since the 80s and they are ripping harder than ever!! Some of their peers should take note. Stoked for a new double album slated for next year! Check out this sick custom lowrider paint job on Gary's V !! I was front and center for the entire show, and for a few days after my neck reminded me I'm not 17 anymore.

@toy_tek I can’t stand in front of Marshall stacks anymore either, though I still do. I have mild tinnitus so I’ve gotten real serious about hearing protection - even when running an angle grinder too. My partner and I saw Swans a few times the past couple years and that made me wish I had better earplugs. There’s been 7 of them on the past few tours and each person is playing through the same 800w amp 😬

Roof Rack mods - mounted the awning up there (seen below). Bought a Rivnut installer tool not too long ago, not sure why I didn't do that years ago. I'd always be drilling and tapping but the rivnuts are just slick.

Gotta shout out to @bwesty again for this sweet LED lamp. I swear he loves this truck as much as I do haha. Anyway I got that mounted up in time for my Colorado trip a few weeks ago. Dimmable, direct-able. Super cool! Thx buddy!

Spent a week up in western Colorado. Spectacular scenery of course, truck ran amazing and even got close to 15 mpg(!!?). The 40 gallon Long Range tank sure makes it easy in terms of fuel planning. Close to 1100 miles round trip and only made 3 fuel stops.

My old airline toolbox from the 90's was kinda in storage for the last 5 years, finally moved it over to the main shop.... mostly in preparation for:

2007 L92 rebuild and swap! Aluminum block 6.2 with VVT (no DOD). 151k on it, ran just fine. Planning to install some fresh rings & bearings. Will likely swap later this year or early next. Already have the Marks 4wd adaptor for the H55 too.

Front end upgrade: 4Plus bumper is BEEFY, fit/finish is superior! I can't say enough good stuff about Dave, he's been there / done that, humble about it, and happy to help anyone or answer any questions. He even delivered this to my house! I'll be rebuilding a Warn 8274 to mount up to it. Super happy with this.

Can’t wait to see the 8274 on there. I have one and plan on getting one of Dave’s bumpers too. Curious how it will look on a 60!

I'd say it's a good choice. He's got a pic --> here <--
Ah, so it’s mounted laying down. Cool. I’ve looked at that photo more times than I care to admit and never realized that. Probably better to do it that way, if it were upright it would block half the radiator. I’m new to the 8274 stuff - they can still oil themselves oriented that way? I mean, obviously that must be the case if people mount them that way.

Also, you know I’m kind of a purist … but that new motor is gonna rip. It’ll be interesting to see if you end up having to futz with the front leaf springs because I bet that thing is way lighter than a 2F.

I have a 4Plus Kingdom bumper with a rebuilt 8274 on my 60 and they're both great. The Kingdom bumper offers superb protection.View attachment 3958933
I didn't know he made the full face mask bumper! I think I still want the lower profile one, but it's nice to know he's got options. Looks great by the way. Any change in cooling with that big motor sticking up in front of the radiator?

I think it’s about 100lbs lighter from what I recall. Some of that will be offset w the new bumper and the 8274. And I may add a second battery. I have the heavy leafs front and back, so I’m guessing it’ll feel pretty much the same when it’s all said and done. Well except for the acceleration part lol.

Yeah, with that motor, weight isn't really an issue! I've chosen to load down my poor 2F with every heavy thing imaginable. Is what it is I guess haha.

Let me know if you need to bounce any dual battery thoughts off me. I did that last year and it's been great. Found that I did some things right, and maybe would have changed others.

Glad to hear the light is working out well - nice placement! 62 is coming along great! Nice bumper upgrade too!

4Plus (Dave) makes great Land Cruiser products.
