Chewbacca's Birfield Grease Guide (3 Viewers)

Found a new grease to add to your list, it's made by Shell. It's called Shell Gadus S3 V460 D2, it's rated as a NLGI 2 grease with 3% moly. They also make a 5% moly, that part number is Gadus S3 V460 XD. I can see the Valvoline Pallidium you need right in middle.
Look no Further.
Each Knuckle holds about 2 Tubes.
I used a putty knife to fill the birfs and a grease gun to fill the knuckle bodies.
Using Glove and lubes makes me feel uncomfortable.

I used a tub of Timkin Bearing Grease with my Timkin Bearings.

Can we update the Valvoline SynPower option on the first page? I checked the MSDS and it says that it contains 2.5% Moly.

For those who are having difficulty sourcing Palladium, SynPower looks to be a good option? Is the 0.5% difference significant? As an earlier post mentioned, could SynPower be the best for both general use and the front Knuckle?

Putty knife? Dude, we're more refined than that. Use the kitchen spatula, much better than a rigid putty knife

Using the Spatula and Turkey Baster was affecting food taste, plus causing frequent bathroom usage

I use the dollar store spatula myself. Good 'ol Betty Crocker.

Which one of these greases do you recommend based on your findings, regardless of price and do any of these work for greasing applications such as the u joints? Sorry I do not have a FSM so I dont know what is required. Thanks

For u-joints, I would definitely recommend the Amsoil synthetic moly grease, the stuff is incredible.

There's probably a bunch of great choices for the Birfields, the Valvoline VV985 is probably a decent one that's not too hard to find. Greases that have tackifiers are definitely good.

I am switching to RCV Birfs. Does anyone have an opinion on the RCV Moly Grease they sell? $40 for 14oz seems pricey.

If memory serves it takes 2 tubes to fill the Birf and housing, that will get expensive. Although I suppose protecting the investment isn't cheap.

Thoughts? RCV High Performance Synthetic Moly CV Grease
