Do you think the style of shifter could be causing the issue?
I haven’t added any knuckle gussets. You have some pictures?

I was kidding about the shifter causing issues, I just want one :)
Yeah, I think the ones I made for myself came out pretty nice, check out my build thread. Within the past two months or so. If you can't find them PM me

If you know the page post it up. Nice to see what you other guys build.

Took some pictures of placement of the steering stops. I think I’ll wait for @boots4 before getting this part done.

Nothing crazy, just some 3/8" plate trimmed to fit for the top and some round tubing for the bottom. Make sure you have full travel of the knuckle before you weld all the way up. Marlin Crawler and Ruffstuff make some, these took about a half hour to make though.
I remember seeing those now. What page was that on?

... It's not too hard to bend a 60 axle right at the knuckle.

This is what tipped me over to the Dana 60 swap. I had finally bent one side on my FJ60 front axle. I was not running gussets, only a truss.

Well I def don’t want to bust my axle.
I just want to get Snowball out to play. Luckily the snowpack is deep in Oregon so it’ll be easy to find snow in the high country even out to July. I have an itching to hit up the high lakes in the Cascades and do some camping and fly fishing.

Looking down the NV4500 shift tower. I don’t see any fluid in there as far down as I can see. Anybody with the NV4500 know if I should at least see some fluid. Was going to RTV the blue spacer and short throw shifter to stop fluid from bubbling out between the seal.

Only way to overfill it is if you fill through the shift tower or park on a slope. Since the tower gets sealant its a pain to do it that way.

Not sure why I can’t find one for the NV4500. Would make it easier to add fluid later and add the extra quart.

I put RTV on the top of transmission. Applied it to top of blue spacer. There is a rubber spacer with metal gasket above the blue spacer. I did not put on RTV between the shifter and topside of rubber spacer with metal gasket.

Drove the 60 yesterday and no more transmission fluid leaking around shift tower. Turbo spools nicely at lower end but has a lull in the middle of the power band. Gauges will be nice to have for the next step of tuning. The Speedhut gauges are ordered from @FJ60Cam and will be a great addition.
1st gear is pretty much useless for street and have not even needed 5th yet as 4th does great at highway speed. Nice to still have another gear, but as of now it’s a 3 speed.

Just caught up on the last dozen pages. Happy to see you’re over the major hurdles and driving! Looking forward to seeing this rig at the next meet.

edit: also if you decide to run the 12K Warn and need to unload the M8000, let me know
