For those of us with heavy 60 series that's full of gear all the time. what springs are you running?

I diesel swapped my 62 and running a 1HDFT with intercooler, batteries, lights, hilift jack, bumper. The front springs are collapsing on the smallest bump on the road.

I'm running the heaviest springs for the 60 from OME.

The rear is the same situation. I need 700kg springs front and rear.

Would the 75 series springs front and rear work on a 60? I've done some research and it looks like the front springs would go in without issues. but I'm not sure about the rears.

Thoughts?

My HJ61 is running OME Heavy Plus up front. Heavier motor and ARB front bumper with a winch. Doesn't bottom out.

I've got an FJ60. Not sure how the engine weights compare, but I have steel bumpers front and rear, heavy sliders, roof rack, dual batteries, etc. I went to 75 Troopy springs up front and I love them. I'm on a shackle reversal but they should work with the standard orientation. I actually removed leaves to go from 7 down to 5 springs and they work great. Yes, if I hit a big bump on the highway at high speed they compress a lot, but they're much softer and more comfortable on the road and flex better on the trail. If you want to keep all the leaves in the spring pack I'm sure they can support a very heavy load

I've looked at getting different rear springs, but I think the 75s are going to be far too long. I think they're about 3" longer than rear 60 springs. The shackle would be getting pretty close to horizontal at that rate. Up front the 75s are 1.5" longer than the 60 springs.

For what it's worth the problem I've been trying to solve for isn't load carrying ability, it's the fact that every aftermarket 60 Series leaf spring pack is too short by about 1.5-2". They all make the shackle stand straight up and down, which makes the ride harsh.

I looked into this extensively.. like CT says the fronts work. The rears look like they will work as well if you relocate the fixed spring hanger to compensate e date for the added length. I may go this direction in the future to get the adddd benefits of a longer spring as well as better shackle angle and load capacity

I run 12HT. 38 gal LR rear tank. Warn 9500 Compressor winch on front with 4+Bumper. Homemade rear with
Toyo MT 285/75R17 spare and 3 - 5 gal military cans, rear 11500 lb Runva winch. Maggiolina Extreme RTT.
Keep interior stuff minimal, but full tool supply, spare alternator/starter. OME Heavy rear and med front.
Boss Triple airbag rear and SumoSprings replace front bumpstops. SumoSprings also seem to be also making
sure the front knuckle bearings last longer, reducing the pounding in front significantly.
Hope this helps. You can beef it up properly without getting too much swapping around

Just for the sake of saving someone an expensive mistake, the rear springs off of 70 series pickups are way too long for a 60 and they may be wider as well. I have a set of stock take offs from a 79 series pickup sitting in my backyard and they are equivalent to a 3/4-1 ton truck spring.

If I'm not mistaken, 70 series wagons have rear springs with nearly identical dimensions to a 60 series rear. So they wouldn't be any different than your OME 60 rears.

Front springs work well though. They work excedingly well in a shackle reversal setup like @CruiserTrash and I have. (He is running lift springs with a 2F, I have stock take off springs with a 1HZ)
Just don't use super short shackles (in the stock shackle orientation) or the extra length of the spring might push your shackle angle too slack. (Highly arched lift springs would somewhat mitigate this)

My BJ74 and 60 use same springs fr and rear.

Interested for sure in fixing the almost vertical rear shackle on my current rear leafs. Ride certainly suffered in the rear when I went to the 4.88" rear shackles. I don't want to lower it back down either.
