yeah ,I made up a small jumper to do just that. One small jumper on the terminal strip inside the tailgate and the safety switch is bypassed. I would have never thought of a band clamp.

Not sure either but I was always concerned that it was the reason why I couldn't get the door to budge. wrong again, at least in my case.So the safety switch just completes the ground circuit. Not sure why there’s always a problem with them? Can’t remember if they’re adjustable or if it’s an issue with the tailgate not closing completely?
It might be the safety devise inside, that insures the glass has to be ALL the way down before releasing the latches.the reason why I couldn't get the door to budge
yes ,it is for that reason but, it can also be problematic(Ive heard). Hence the work around ...disable it.It might be the safety devise inside, that insures the glass has to be ALL the way down before releasing the latches.
I did, helps quite a bit!Put some Silicone WD40 on that rubber and watch how fast it goes up
Thanks. I have the originals which seem to have more accurate cuts and more material in the right places. I think I found an easy way out. Use the adhesive patch material stuffed into that area to cover the foam and glue or somehow attach the flap on the edge. Open to better ideas though...Happy to look at mine tomorrow. It still has the original upholstery.
I tried some Sil-Glyde on mine back in the day and after a few dusty trails it was awful. I think the best thing is clean, dry felt.Put some Silicone WD40 on that rubber and watch how fast it goes up
Yeah I tried to clean them before trying silicone but the felt came off in my hand. My window seals are toast. I have new window channels I just have to go pick them up.I tried some Sil-Glyde on mine back in the day and after a few dusty trails it was awful. I think the best thing is clean, dry felt.
