So the fuel pump that I rebuilt had a bad valve in it that sadly, isn't removable. Luckily, scored a used one that works perfectly ...(thanks @Pigeaten ). After installing the new (Used) fuel pump and removing and cleaning the idle channel on the carb(again) I primed it and she fired right up and idles about 700 without any fine tuning! Its been almost a year to the day since Ferkel came home. Still plenty more to do....

@Tomba good meeting you couple days ago as your were looking for that pump!

Small detour, engine light for fuel filter needing replaced just outside of our arrival to Grand Canyon last night.

Sitting at GMC dealership while they get it replaced. Sucks I had no tools for it. Then somewhere in NM tonight, home tomorrow night.

Been great trip!

Funky Route 66 era motels and sights in Tucumcari.

Yeah, we stayed in one with petrified wood throughout the rooms, cool town.
Not to mention, ala Winslow, there's a musical connection via Little Feat's "Willin" also covered by Linda Rondstadt.
"...from Tucson to Tucumcari, Tehachapi to Tonopah"... not to forget the line about "...weed, whites and wine." (Hello, Gordon @Gordobe)
Pics from Tucumcari during our 2017 road trip after Porsche revitalization. You ought to at least pull off the interstate and drive 66 through town.

Going through same 💩. Except i have full vac. New carb in the mail 🤔😉
Never seems to be easy. I've read numerous threads on this topic and I've rebuilt this carb being what I consider very meticulous still haven't been able to get it right. Reading the threads has me second guessing what I did. Now I am thinking I might have put in the lower gasket incorrectly and its blocking the idle channel.

I replaced everything from tank! New electric fuel pump with filter, bypassed factory line with rubber (until i can replace with new steel) 2 filters prior to carb. Starts right up with choke and 1 pump of gas pedal, bring it up to temp fine in 1st and 2nd gear starts kicking out at about 20 minutes, have to full choke to start it. New 1 due monday, old 1 getting rebuilt if new 1 fixes problem 😒

Are you having Mark here on Mud rebuild yours? Damn, I am not experiencing those symptoms but I did do pretty much the same as you. tank cleaned, all new rubber lines, vent lines, 2 filters, replaced the fuel pump, rebuilt the carb , adjusted valves, fixed vac leaks w/ a new manifold gasket, advanced timing a bit. Still cant get to it to work properly. complete piss off, I get it.

Checked for vac leaks couldnt find any and was getting 19 psi at idle. I'm now wondering if its the Secondary thats screwed up. Ethanol 💩 🤔😉. Might send my carb down to that young kid in Fla, she started her business at 14. She if she can do Aisan.

Put a few things back together today but not to rest .... Got her to idle and drive decently by more playing w the timing and idle speed, Still not 100% correct. I can see fuel coming from the primary but dont have the motivation right now to remove that thing again and figure out the clog in the idle channel. Sure is fun driving around in the light rain today though. Popped on the hubcaps too :D
