yes, found it on mud. cruiser-cult. FJ40 fuel pump rebuild kit - https://cruiser-cult.myshopify.com/products/copy-of-fj40-fuel-pump-rebuild-kit?variant=42379209638137You might be right. I had to rebuild one on my M37, just get old. I guess they have a rebuild kit available?
Thanks! I moved pretty slow on that one. Most of the issues I was having, folks here on Mud pointed to them being ground issues. I did end up buying a fuel sender unit that was unnecessary as that issue particular issue ended up being the fuel gauge. I am no electronic wizard myself.I read w interest your gauge cluster write up.. that's good work..
I lost power to my temp, fuel, and oil pressure all at the same time...
And I'm a block of wood when it comes to electronics...
Hard to beat that.Toyota FIPG 00295 00103
I'm certain mine is a ground issue as well.. when you cleaned the contacts and plug (8 or 9 pin ) as BobM suggested that's what cleared it up? .Thanks! I moved pretty slow on that one. I think it may have helped sort out the gauges with better contact for the gauge lights I tried to clean the 8/9 pin wheel as best I could but the temp sender had a corroded connection (cleaned that too ) but recently bought a new wire and connecter for it and, the fuel gauge itself was bad. wasn't a ground in my case. Did you check the fuses?? I have a dash light and it stopped working, was a burnt fuse..I'm certain mine is a ground issue as well.. when you cleaned the contacts and plug (8 or 9 pin ) as BobM suggested that's what cleared it up? .

Checked the fuses....all good... doing some research/reading threads/FSM's to understand next steps..I think it may have helped sort out the gauges with better contact for the gauge lights I tried to clean the 8/9 pin wheel as best I could but the temp sender had a corroded connection (cleaned that too ) but recently bought a new wire and connecter for it and, the fuel gauge itself was bad. wasn't a ground in my case. Where did you source the fuel sender? My gauge tested good. Thanks! I moved pretty slow on that one. Most of the issues I was having, folks here on Mud pointed to them being ground issues. Are you sure yours is bad? I bought one on ebay that I didnt use/need.... mine is a 72Where did you source the fuel sender? My gauge tested good.
Nice work, chasing down the problem! Not sure if other model senders would work. Pretty specific to the tank type/year for my application.Followed the FSM and took the connector off the sender, grounded an inline bulb and the gauge popped to life... Additionally the metal tab the connector attaches too swivels loosely around like a ballerina! My inexperienced and uneducated guess is the ground is broken at the connection/tab... I'm not certain about fitment and curious about the 40/45 fuel senders listed there... do they work on the 55's?? I'm going to look at it some more tomorrow but I'm thinking it's the sender.
Our parts guy in Yemen had several 55 senders a year or so ago. I bought one for a spare. He probably still has some.Followed the FSM and took the connector off the sender, grounded an inline bulb and the gauge popped to life...
