Drilling it straight is an important step! That was my first choice. This is another instance where I'll have to shell out some $ for someone else to drill it straight and pop in a coil.

JIS is probably what you need - tight clearances...will any correct size zinc hex nuts work ?
TILBrass nuts were used back in the day as it was thought they were less prone to seizing. The choice is yours.
How did it go?ok, slowly torqued to 25lbs, FSM says 22-29. recommended to start, it warm up then re-torque?
She fired right up but the fine tuning / idle adjustment is next which, I will def report back on ASAP.How did it go?
ok. good advice on the plastic piece, the hose itself looks a lil sus too.Plastic piece on booster with vac line hooke to it check that, had 1 go on a Ford once would start and idle perfect but no accelaration. Check carb bolts too. Use carb cleaner to check for leaks![]()
Sometimes, advancing my timing improves my vacuum...Not satisfied with that vac reading
Yep. I'd like to see if I can identify any leaks before resorting to that. Trying to establish somewhat of a baseline as its never really been 100%.Sometimes, advancing my timing improves my vacuum...
No, I'm sorry, I would not advise anyone to order from SOR unless they had exhausted all other possibilities.would it be not advised to use the 2 gaskets that SOR sells to help with this leak?
Decent advise. So, I took the air cleaner off and thought I would see if I could get a bit more granular in where the vac leak is coming from and it looks to me, the leak is not in fact the insulator but the back of the throttle linkage shaft is where the leak is and I've read that there are not bearings or sleeves avail to correct this or is there? Thoughts? No, I'm sorry, I would not advise anyone to order from SOR unless they had exhausted all other possibilities.
Also:
1) I don't use those base gaskets.
B) If I had to put a gasket there I'd make my own out of very good gasket material.
III) Those gaskets come in a carb rebuild kit. I would advise everybody with a carb to keep one or two carb rebuild kits on hand.
Yes, there's that. I have heard of people getting new bushings installed there. It sounds hard. It can't leak much air, and it's up sorta fairly high on the carb and can be adjusted for. I think I wouldn't worry too much about that now.Thoughts?
It is a significant enough leak to prevent it from idling properly as the vac is just low enough that it sometimes dies when coming to s stop.Yes, there's that.
