Those of you with electric fans, do they run when you are on the interstate?
My electric fans turn on as soon as it hits temp and only turns off when it's below the temp. I have two fans and I think the first one turns on somewhere between 195°-200°.

Not gonna lie I'm pretty excited, after fighting this overheating only at interstate speeds I do believe we got it fixed! My tuner came by and lowered the timing and redid the fans so I now have a low speed and high speed fans. Amazing how such small changes make such a big difference

are you in the Birmingham area? Just curious who is tuning if so.

Actually I’m in Hartselle, tuner is out of Huntsville. Super nice guy does it on the side, I know he is booked through July 17th. Feel free to message me if you need more information..

So I'm going to replace my rad and transmission cooler! What should I get? Is the factory toyota good enough to keep the ls cool?
Thanks all

Did you look though any of the +200 pages of this very thread before posting that question?

I am keeping the stock trans cooler and went with a Ron Davis radiator. If I had it to do again I’d try the stock radiator first with a mechanical fan.

My Efans kick in at 194. I live near Seattle and was in Eastern Wa this past week. Temps on the 80’s and 90’s. I too am having some cooling issues. I think my issue is that I don’t have an airbox and I am literally sucking in hot air right off the manifold. Gonna get a box in there then if that doesn’t solve it I will look at a new radiator and venting my hood.

We did a new Toyota radiator during my LS swap due to Ron Davis being 6-8 weeks out. This was during Covid.

I’ve got a little over 25k miles on the swap with no cooling issues. Running dual electric Derale fans with their aluminum shroud, stock air box with snorkel and vented hood.

My first fan kicks on at 207 and second at 213. This seems much higher than others here but I’ve never had issues.

I’ve read that the 6.2L in a stock Camaro doesn’t have the first fan kick on until 221 and second at 228.

Did you run an oil cooler and trans cooler? I have both in front of my condenser and thinking maybe I hook the trans cooler lines to the stock ports on the bottom of the radiator and then just run the oil cooler. And vent my hood and I think that should be good.

Is the stock toyota radiator 3 cores?

No separate oil or trans coolers. We did trade out the OE power steering "paper clip" for a small, traditional fin cooler.

I would run a trans cooler before an oil cooler. Personally, I wouldn’t bother with an oil cooler at all.
Thanks.

It's time to change the oil. I'll pull the oil cooler. Might even try to use the factory Trans cooler. Add in a airbox and then give it a shot on these passes
