Yeah it's an outstanding build, I gotta say@Indestructible 47 as we were saying the other day...
So a bit more about the engine: once it arrived today I asked Ian to get me pics of any numbers on the block to try to ascertain date of manufacture...
The block stiffener/bearing cap plate had “10730”= 07/30/2001
The block itself had “10803”= 08/03/2001
So, pretty far out. This has been sitting around since 2001 in a warehouse in the GCC.
Long block assemblies for service part support are only manufactured for the first 8-12 month of a new engine part number being installed into vehicles— mainly in case there is a warranty claim and an engine can quickly be swapped out. After this time period, the long block is discontinued and superseded to a head and short block assembly that then has to be “built.”
In any event, pretty damn cool historical, truly NOS beauty here. Now the research/part intensive process of “converting” this into a mechanically controlled engine vs. original -FTE configuration.

@Onur Is this a NOS 70 series FTE or a 100 series FTE?
Nice, I wondered since the valve cover did not say "Intercooled" on it.

Not sure those types of decals would be included in a replacement engine.
Here’s a little somethin’ that might be beneficial for this project...

Or does this unicorn motor just get the regular FTE sticker???
