Good looks. Brain cells going :bounce2:

Are you going cross over delete or keeping the intake heater/soft shutdown?

I saw on mick’s site that sometimes a crossover delete can cause idle hang esp. for a manual trans setup.

I was planning to do PDI also, but I don’t love that they slap their logo straight across the front. Intercooler looks symmetrical, so one could probably flip it 180. For my auto situation, I’d have to route trans cooler lines differently if flipping the trans cooler. Maybe I can paint them.

On the topic of cooling are you planning to use your 1FZ radiator and adapt a diesel fan shroud? My rad is new as of last year so my hope is to do just that, but haven’t got the parts in hand yet to dream up how to adapt it.

Another one, on the topic of cooling. I was doing some research, and it looks like it might be possible to use a 1HZ AC line from the compressor to the condenser - I believe this is the line Lee had custom made by a shop when he did his swap.

This is the one I was eyeballing:

I'm going to keep the cross over, But I am probably going to remove the internals of the intake heater for more flow. It does get pretty cold here in Colorado but she'll be kept in my garage 99% of the time if I'm home, so shouldn't be an issue.

I know from HD auto you can order the intercooler in black, but that didn't justify the extra shipping cost for me, but maybe ordering the intercooler in black would make it easier to cover up the lettering? Gturbo didn't have that option.

Since I have the HDJ100, I have that radiator, and honestly it's probably cleaner considering I was driving the 1fz-fe with mostly water because the head gasket leak. Something interesting though the radiator bracket part numbers are the same from 1fz -> 1hdj100 (Double checked this, they aren't RIP), the radiator is a different part number though. I'm going to attempt to use the HDJ100 radiator. ( I may see if I can move the brackets from my 1FZ rad to the 1HDJ100 Rad, We'll see. LOL)

For you though, check this out. You can buy the 1HDJ shroud still on partsouq, now will that just bolt up to the 1fz rad? I'm not sure. but it's worth maybe diving into.

I haven't even gotten to thinking about AC yet, that was something I figured I'd have to take both lines to a line shop and have them customized to work. Maybe it was @lelandEOD 's thread that had some information on that? I can't remember.

Seems like a safe bet to just replace if old. I was eyeing the 1HZ shroud, and didn't realize PS had the HDJ80 shroud available. Ordered. 🤝

So I asked around, and you can get the HDJ80 fan shroud to fit the FZJ80 radiator by drilling extra holes into the shroud and probably using zipties or bailing wire
This is what I'd imagined, but hadn't seen it implemented. I'll probably try to do it with some fasteners and fab up a bracket to adapt if I need to.

Dude does nice work. I've made a lot of custom cables for things over the years and that all looks excellent.

Yeah its definitely professional. I think it was totally worth the coin. Mick was great to work with in general and to be honest I probably wasn't the easiest client.

Total cost was 1900.00 USD for both the engine harness and transmission harness.

The thing I appreciate most is how responsive he is to questions or concerns. He was also super quick to ship after payment.

If you're going manual, I'd totally recommend Mick. If you're going auto, about the only person who'll do them are Thrashlux but I cant speak to his harness quality as i haven't seen it in person.

@MooseMichaels ive been exploring exhaust options, I think im going to go with this and then have a local shop take care of the rest.

Shipping is absolutely killer on full exhaust kits.

Yikes - I have PPD quoting me for a full kit, hoping they don’t come back with a price that’s bananas. I sent a message to all the big name HDJ80 exhaust system builders, and torqit and PPD were happy to ship. The PPD HDJ80 in SS is somehow only ~600 AUD, so if the shipping is another 400 bones I’ll live with it. Some of the other players like manta (who has a us distributor btw) are in the 1500-2k range it seems. Depending on what PPD comes back with total cost, I’ll either go PPD or Manta I’m thinking.

That harness from Mick looks absolutely mint. Looking forward to hearing your experiences wiring it up.
