Yes, do the upper and lower trunion bearings . I've seen several go bad. The main axle bearings are so big they usually don't.

I am planning to do trunion and wheel bearings on the front. The play was coming from the rear hubs.

Good deal for 2400..

Madd props to Xpress Metal Cleaning for getting the yellow out!! I highly recommend speaking with Eugenia. http://www.xpressstripping.com/

They were very easy to deal with, did a great job, and at $55 for all my knuckle parts was well worth it! Support local businesses!

Decided to try my luck at rebuilding my calipers. A couple of the pistons are pitted and need to be replaced. Gave me a good chance to clean up the calipers nicely! Caliper porn!

Rock can you give a liberal estimate within a grand of how much a basic V8 swap would cost to have you do?
Want to start sticking some V8 money away now so when the HG goes or a rod starts knocking I have a solution.
Not trying to pin you down on an exact amount but rather an idea of what I'll have to stick aside per month to get to the needed amount.

Thanks!

Shoot me a PM of what kind of power your wanting. This can help me give you a more accurate quote. Thanks!

JR,

How many V8 swaps into 80s have you done now??? Your swap work is very clean...I like it.

Cheers,

J

Thank you. It's hard to see but there is a lot of work in doing these swaps. Though when you mash the pedal and it plants you in the seat you know it's worth it :). I have done 7 so far with 3 more in the books. Makes me wonder when I'll ever get to building mine! :)

sooo reading through your build, I saw a dismantle of your factory harness which is exactly what I am planning on doing for my swap

I was wondering if you documented which wires to remove etc.... I have a couple excel sheets iv'e started for Point a to b, but havent really found anything of the sorts other going through the EWD's and going from there..... oh the tedious parts....

I just read this whole thread, nice clean work! I'm new to LC's, as in still waiting to find the right 80 with a blown motor. I've been into rock crawling for a few years and have done body and motor swaps, with the last one being a 5.3, lm7. I was wondering why you integrate the two harnesses instead of just doing a stand alone with separate fuse block for the engine and tranny, and one for the cab side? Thanks

bulhas - pm me your email and I will share the pin out sheet I created to help me with my swap in my old '94 LC. Most of the info carries over except for the whole TCM bit. The pin out will help determine the wires for the IH1 and IH2 connectors and match the wires to the GM harness.

What year is your 80. Wiring putouts will vary in years.

was just curious if you've been able to put in much seat time since the tune. Hows it running? How is that 6.0 on fuel?
No, not much seat time at all. She went up on jack stands a few months ago so I could pull 3rd members for lockers. I got carried away with rebuilding the front-end, which has taken a lot longer than I anticipated. The front end is going to look purty fo sho! I should have it back together sometime after the new year. More info then...

It's been a while so I figured I would post a few updates. Truck is back on all fours and I am working out a few bugs.

I upgraded the fan shroud with a custom aluminum number I made a few months back. In light testing it seems to work well. Hoping to do more testing at higher outside temps and RPM's/load.

She's looking good. Just needs to have the paint clay bar'd and do something about that naked front end.

So on went a Binksfab bumper. It's a really nice addition.
