On a different topic... I decided I do not love my FUEL Beast wheels.

I was hoping the "bronze" would be more "beige" or "champagne" than it is. It is really hard to tell they are not black. I don't know when the world decided that black wheel were all the s#!t, but I must have missed the message. I have never dug that look...

So, off the spare tire went to Express Wheel Repair in Glendale. I asked them to strip and powder coat the wheel a medium grey, then machine the face just like the 80 series wheel. That should leave a shiny aluminum face to the spokes with a contrasting grey inside the spokes and inner wheel. Let's hope I love it more than what I have, otherwise I may be shopping for new wheels.

I will post up a photo next week when I get the spare back...

I might be in-love with my Fuel Beast wheels again. Still need to paint and install "cap screws" around perimeter but I think it should look pretty close to the rendering. Now I need to swap those puny 35's for some 37's. Boo-Yah!

Man I really like the bronze wheels personally. That's just opinion though.
x2, mine are the bronze sorta two tone. I think they look pretty good and not bro flat-biller status.

Those look great with the milled surfaces and the accent paint. Why is one bolt head natural and the others painted?
@Dissent Its a test to see how the cap screws look as silver vs black. I made the rendering with them silver. On the fence regarding which way to go. Thoughts?

Ah, gotcha. The silver compliments the truck scheme better but the black makes it pop at the wheel more. Tough call but I'd say silver works better for the whole look.

Now you just need some shiny new flange studs and bolts to match. I seriously think that's the only thing in any of you pictures that's been less than pristine.

This is the part where you tell me you have center caps and tell me to mind my own business. :hillbilly:

LOL those things bug me to no end as well. I ordered new nuts but realized the cone washers underneath are also showing surface rust. I plan to wire brush them all and then hit it again with some chassis black on the rear. On the front I am installing manual hubs which IIRC are mostly shiny aluminum or chrome.

If you have any idea how I can fit a cap on the rears let me know. I had to have Murf bore out the center of the wheels a bit to fit over the 80 series flange so I do not think there is any easy way to attach caps anymore.

I'm paining my hubs and installing new hardware. Center caps, even if they do fit cause rust, etc when they get filled with water and sit which is a problem in this neck of the woods.

Front is done with new studs, cones nuts and washers and fresh paint. Interestingly enough the flat washers were the most expensive part of the order. Go figure.

Funny you mention the cost of the washers. I was like no-way am I paying 2$ for a washer. That is when I decided to just wire brush the whole thing and hit it with a rattle can. Here in AZ that surface rust is just cosmetic so no-need to replace the studs, cones or washers. I really should not have spent the money on the nuts either but that is hindsight.

I couldn't help myself. I bought new washers all the way around and decided to replace the washers on the 3rd member studs as well. Not that I wouldn't necessarily have done it anyway (because who doesn't like shiny and new?) but I have a bunch of mismatched hardware under there from what I can only assume was a less than conscientious PO.

Back on topic - Your wheels turned out great 👍
