actually in my opinion, the springs in the stock seats provide quite the cushion when hitting bumps in the road. some of the most comfortable seats you can have on the 40s

I sure hope they are, I think cruisers need all the help they can get..

Just not sure what color the seat frames and back plates are supposed to be???

I dunno what planet okie is on those OEM seats are not that comfortable. They are just bouncy springs with no support or countours. Anyway, mine i'll stay stock :D

The seat frames and backs are that greyish pewter. I'd have to look close in the day light to see how much difference there is.

Check it out, power brakes w/ some bling :grinpimp:

It's nice to have buddy that hot rods old trucks as a hobby..

Nice, the frame looks good! I wish I knew how to do that.

It is actually really easy..

.Take cruiser completely apart
.Buy all my stuff from www.por15.com
.Get some paintbrushes and pump sprayer from hardware store
.Get chassis somewhere that a waterhose will reach and you could have it preped and coated with por15 in a day
.Then next day finish it up with chassis coat

Thanks for the compliments ;)

O.K. finally found a place here in Corpus that would sell DuPont paint products to me..

After talking to the old feller paint expert he told me this is what I need to do..

Put a couple coats of

Corlar 2.8 HG-D which is supposed to be highbuild

If it doesn't smooth out quite the way I want it too then I already have some other highbuild primer to go on after that

Then go with 2 or 3 coats of Imron 5000 Low VOC 3.5 HN

This Imron should be bullet proof ;p

If your looking for a fantastic high build, easy sand primer. Try Mortons Eliminator. Works great!!! Its Epoxy based and sands oh so nicely...

i really have to applaud you for putting the stock seats in ...they are badass

I prefer the stock, early seats, front and rear. You can cart around more passengers than with buckets and the later model rear seats. It's no problem, for example, taking six teenagers hiking or to the movies.

keep it up

Nope

Actually I havn't really spent all that much on this thing compared to toher people's rig..

But it does make for a good company write off. If anybody asks it's a delivery truck ;)

Wow! Amazing job...

you have going there. I am over in Rockport and would love to stop by and see your work first-hand. I recently acquired a '65 FJ40 that I hope to restore.
Sure could use some advice.

As for the battery I wish I did know where to mount it, the PO had it in the cab ..

Most of my engine compartment space is on the passenger side so I think it should be able to mount somewhere over there
I mounted my battery about 3/4" above my shock tower. It bolts to the frame on both sides of the shock tower, where my frame alrady was treaded. I think I would have room for two batterys there.
