Just bought this BJ60 a few weeks back.
I love the truck, but something else has come along that I am more interested in, so I'm trying to assess interest in this truck and possibly put it up for sale. Here are the details:
1983 BJ60. Clean truck. No accidents.
I am the third owner. Every receipt since the truck was bought in 1983 from Vancouver Toyota.
It's got very low mileage: 238,000 kms.
The body is good, except for the rear fenders which are rusted and will require attention.
The frame is pretty good, although the rear is starting to rust a little. A mechanic punched a hole through the very back with a hammer, on the inner part, not the outer part. The rest of the frame is solid. West Coast...
Original owner with 111k miles on original engine and transmission. Stock. Runs great (and always has) but currently has a broken exhaust pipe and will need new exhaust from manifold to the flange on the muffler / tailpipe section (which was replaced 3 years ago and is still good). Power windows, locks, mirrors, etc. and all electrical components work fine. Antenna mast is broken but motor drive still works. Interior is in great shape but a little dirty (no rips or tears in orig. seat and door panel upholstery or vinyl, with exception of driver side seat which has some cracking of vinyl facing door). Headliner is intact but dirty. Dash has one crack in front of the steering wheel. Tires have 15 k miles on them. Some corrosion on all 4...

Been lurking on these forums for awhile, what better first post than to buy something to join the conversation with. I'm looking to purchase an FJ62 in the Southern California area. Needs to be mechanically sound with no major issues, no rust or other exterior damage, clean interior. Something you would consider reliable as a DD(ie the wife would be ok driving it). It doesn't have to be stock, could be up to 2 1/2 lift and up to 33" tires. I wouldn't want anything above that in size. 1983 Toyota Fj60 Land Cruiser – 255000 miles, 65k on original rebuilt 2f motor, it was repainted a few years ago, very clean inside and out, there are two tears in the headliner – one next to the drivers flip down sun shade and the other in the trunk where the headliner meets the left window. Also, there is what appears to be a small burn in the trunk carpet – see pics. Other than that interior is exceptionally clean. No cracks on the dash, no tears in the seats, non-smoked in car.
The exterior is also very clean. There are no scratches that I am aware of on the paint. The paint is in very good condition. This cruiser was originally blue. The paint job was done very professionally at the time of the engine rebuild as the door wells and...

Nice rust /rot free fj62 with a great running 350 and 700r4 conversion.
The wagon is amazingly clean w/ zero body or frame rust issues , original red paint. There is a small crunch in rear bumper from backing into a pole and a small dent in tail gate. Doors open and shut as they should and glass is perfect. It has power locks,windows and mirrors all working. Power antenna works, but needs new metal antenna.
Interior is very nice and only drivers seat has a small rip, but both front seats are covered w/ sheepskins.
Drivetrain is great w/ a nicely done V8 conversion using a 700r4 trans. ( told engine and trans have about 30k on rebuilds)and a advanced adapters adapter to stock Toyota transfer case...

Had the car since Nov of 2005. It had 130k on it and has been driven gently 12 miles a day 5 days a week since.
Oil pan leaks at a rate of about half a quart every 2 weeks.
Much slower leak on transfer case.
Original upholstry in great condition. Carpet in cargo area is frayed and not in good condition.
Small quarter-sized rust spots on the outside of wheel well and left corner...

I am selling it because I have another BJ60 I did a swap on a couple years ago and decided I don't need two. I need $ to finish my other project. Ole Blue has just been sitting at the ranch for the last two years and goes for short trips every month or so to keep lubed up.
3B engine runs excellent. 4-speed transmission, no AC or power steering. Gets ~25 MPG. Had great compression last time I checked about 500 miles ago. No funny noises. Could probably use a injector rebuild. Burns no oil. Good local diesel mechanics availablevif...
