We picked up a suspension lift for project homework from Cruiser outfitters that I believe use 70 Series rear springs and we will need to move the rear spring hangers

The spring packs look suitably thick for a mining truck like the 70 Series however I’m wondering if I should pull a few leaves to get us started with a factory weight FJ55?

For those of you running this rear spring pack/lift (it’s the OME 2 1/2 inch regular version) how many spring packs are you running in the rear or more specifically did you pull any of the heavier springs to get a good ride quality with an empty cargo bay?

We have no plans for drawers or cargo or weighing this thing down with a bunch of armor

8 in the rear and 7 in the front. I know some leafs were removed from the rear packs by the PO but I don’t know how many. You will be much lighter given the shorter body; less weight and less leverage (overhang).

Photo of my rears before and after paint. Maybe you can tell which ones were removed.

Edit: IIRC my FZJ75 has 10 rear leafs.

This is hugely helpful? Thanks man, we will start there. I think there is 274 leaves in the rears as it comes from OME! Haha

When I saw them I had forgot that they use 70 series rears springs. I thought my cruiser springs got swapped with a dump trucks springs!

On another note, has anyone run caster shims on these 2.5” springs? I’m not sure they’d be needed.

I think you will get a lot of opinions on that subject. Mine doesn’t have any but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t. To put it another way, it drives fine in my opinion but maybe I don’t know how good it could be.
