I just bought a 1980 BJ40 in Melbourne. It has freshly re-built diesel, and looks to be reasonably rust-free. According to the owner, it needs a new front diff and some TLC, but otherwise is in good condition. It has a dent in the right rear door. It is mustard in colour. I bought it from Ebay in the last few minutes, because it went for $2075. I am going to have it shipped to Adelaide where I will either part it out or fix the diff and the dent and sell it.
Before I do, I thought I would see if any Mudders wanted it for what i paid for it. It will be easy to ship roro (last rig we shipped was us$2300) from Melbourne to LA. Here is the ebay link with photos:

Selling my 71 FJ40. New paint (exterior and interior). New seats, new windshield, new carburetor, new brake master cylinder. Motor is a 1962 Chevy swap--runs good, but no acceleration power. Minimal rust in back corners of bed. Used 31" tires, and factory roll bar. 4WD works great. Turn signals, wipers, lights all work. I'm asking $5,000.00 for this baby. I am thinking about selling my fj40 and was wondering if any one would be interested in it.
the body has rust in the usual places: the rear seal, quarter panels and also the a few dents in the rocker panels. The floor pan has only surface rust. It does not run, but here are the parts that are included:
Newly rebuilt 3f engine with a 2f head and carb with all accessories, power stearing pump, alternator, a/c pump, starter.
Gas tank was just professionally resealed
Oil cooler was just cleaned by local radiator shop
New radiator
top was just restored and just needs to be put back together. It was sand blasted, and painted.
Newer style doors that were just sand blasted and painted. Comes with the newer style posts that I cut off...

This Cruiser is all original except it has a Weber carb and the tranny has been converted to a floor shift. It runs great. The body is in good condition, especially for its age. There are a couple of small rust spots, but nothing major. The paint is original.
The Cruiser runs great. It could be a nice daily driver with a little TLC. A disc brake conversion on the front axle, a new exhaust system, and tires would be all that you'd need.
I have some other parts that will go with the Cruiser such as short style jump seats, new weatherstripping for the doors, some new lights, trim pieces, and stock wheels.
I'm asking $4200 obo for it.

Thats right, the time has come. I have owned Colonel Mustard for 7 years. I am hitting the road touring next year and need the cash. Brakes have been rebuilt less than a year ago with reciepts. It runs very very solidly. Starts on one key turn. OWN a PIECE OF HISTORY. There are a few rust spots but nothing that can't be easily remedied. Very few 1982's came into the country. Aside from the brakes I have done all the work on it myseld.
