replaced the fan clutch after 310k miles. I was noticing that the AC would get warmer while sitting at stop lights so I started looking around and figured this was the easiest fix first. the fan pretty much spun freely while the car was off. slight resistance, but nothing compared to the wife's 200. Was able to get the fan out without removing anything except the upper radiator hose. it ended up sliding out with the flange coming up between the thermostat housing and where the upper radiator hose fits onto the engine. not too bad, and took maybe an hour, which included me having to find an extra 12mm box wrench in the neighbors garage since I guess I only had one and couldn't get the flange to stop spinning while I was trying to break the nuts free. I used new nuts, however mine were probably fine to reuse. they weren't too buggered up. Ill work on refurbing the old one and put it in storage, just in case.View attachment 4110632View attachment 4110635View attachment 4110634
I think I need to replace my clutch. It is making lots of noise when AC is off. AC is working fine. Is there a video or resource somewhere on how to replace the clutch?

Winch install tonight on a TCC bumper. Next up…wiring it and mounting the control box.

@imperium I was able to get it in from the top without pulling the bumper thankfully. Was tight even with a ‘slim’ winch

Haha, what a coincidence: I'm putting my comeup 12.5 on the trail tailor hidden winch mount you sold me. I just need to get a sawzall and some sort of jigsaw or dremel for the fairlead hole.

Glad to see neither of us were in too much of a rush 😂 .

I have a Trail Tailor diff drop for sale if you or anyone in the DMV is interested. Prefer local but would consider shipping. I swapped it for a Slee so I can do their skid plates eventually — I wasn’t planning on that previously.

Yeah there’s a couple of videos on YouTube but it’s really just 4 bolts holding it on. The biggest tip i found was using 2 box end wrenches on different nuts to break them loose. The input shaft will spin when you go to loosen the nuts. And even tightening them back up I put extra pressure on the tensioner and it held the shaft well enough to tighten.
I had to remove the upper radiator hose and intake hose leading to the throttle body to slide the fan out, but overall it slid out without too much trouble. Some people found that they needed to loosen the fan shroud as well.

And while my old one was completely shot, my actual problem was that I took a rock to the condenser and leaked out all my freons. She’s down waiting on parts currently.

Coming back to my previous post on the ceiling console of my TLC 100. The V1/prototype was completed and has been installed something like three weeks ago. Of course, as always, I've installed it just couple of hours before going on a 3 days mountain trip. Therefore I was constrained to have temporary compromises, such as using longer threaded rods (as I installed it alone and a couple of extra hands would've been useful as to use more precise fittings).
I used PLA-GF filament which is, generally, ok but it has some drawbacks.
And, again, as usually, V2 is under development (printing it now), with some design changes and, particularly, using ASA-CF08 filament, which is better suit for the scope (lighter/stiffer/heat resistant).
Lights are COB leds with dimmable switches, a stereo amplifier (with aux in, bluetooth and USB inputs), a 4 channel audio mixer (2 transceivers - HF/CB & VHF/UHF + 2cable AUX in) and two speakers to render the sounds (have always had a problem understanding mates on radios on my front console speaker).
The Toyota logo as well as all other white letters have been printed with phosphorescent filament (in the V1 have not included any ACC/dashboard connected backlights). Now this has been fixed.
All together, I'm quite satisfied with the result (it goes without saying that V2 had to come up, with some improvements).

Holy crap. It was about 35 this morning in North GA and I got to use the heat in my new 98 470.. let it warm up for about 10 minutes before I got in to leave and literally thought my face was going to melt off. I've never had a vehicle with heat that does that well. Unreal!!

My group 27 finally died so now putting the Slee tray to real use with an Interstate 31p-mhd

AGM didn’t seem with the cost given how many people seem to have problems even with the diode mod.

Any suggestions for terminal covers?

That’d be the right answer except they don’t sell them anymore. They said they were coming out with a new version but it’s been almost a year and a half.

Google it with "For Sale" in the search...that's how I found my discontinued Slee battery terminals (The ones prior to the current, very expensive ones.)
Found them on a Tacoma specific enthusiast's site.
