Browsing CL and came across this gem that I had to share. $40k for a 1973 FJ40 that has "custom rear quarter panels"(rust covers) ,no wiper arms, "custom" ARB front bumper, and no dash currently but it is "being custom made right now". Oh and it has only two pictures on the ad.

I have an '81 that I picked up a few months back. It is super rusty. The tub is barely there, the rear frame is rusted and the shackle mounts are shot. The floors are gone, fenders gone, hood gone, roof rusted out.
The only semi solid metal is the windshield frame and the big isn't too bad.
Original 2f runs well. Most smog stuff is there but there may be some parts missing. I don't know these late trucks well.
Compression is: #1 165, #2 152, #3 160, #4 158, #5 152, #6 157
It smoked a bit on start up and when I first ran it. I did a little slow lap of the property and that all cleared up. I still think at least the valve guides are worn. But compression is nice.
Has power steering on it but the pump is missing, brackets...

I picked up this FJ40 of a fellow mud member a few years or so ago and bought it home, changed title over, drove it for a few weeks and then put it in storage for a Gunna Do Project.
Well I have hit to many Gunna Do Projects so I am thinking of letting some go and this FJ40 has made it onto the list with my recent purchase of a Bj46.
I have no interest in tire kicking dreamers and the FJ 40 is what it is. I am into it for around $9k as she sits and would be looking for $9000 CASH to let her go. If you feel the need to haggle then I am after $11000 OBO and we can settle at $9000 after a dozen calls and inspections.
She is an honest rig and I have nothing to hide.
The last owner was way more into internet details and posts than I am...
Anyone out there have a decent set of doors that will fit a '70? Not sure how many years that would be but it's got to be between what... mid 60s to 70-------4? Not exactly sure.

My Heater is missing the HEAT-VENT-DEF selector. It must have broken off at some point, and I don't even see where it was sold by Toyota as a spare part. It looks like it attached to the Ventilation Louver (PN 88960-60010). Not sure if it was detachable or not. I'm looking for the either the Selector Tab or the whole whole Ventilation Louver (PN 88960-60010). I don't need an entire heater or any heater cores, hoses defrosters, etc., but I'd buy a '73-'80 heater housing for the parts I need if someone has one available at a reasonable price.

I swapped a OM617 from an '83 300SD with low miles using 4x4labs adapter to retain the Toyota 4 speed trans. Truck has power disk brakes and power steering. Truck is originally from California and has almost no rust (small bit in passenger rear fender about 5 inches long).

I have a 1972 FJ40 project that I need to get rid of. I purchased it as a nearly complete stock FJ40 with minimal rust. My intention was to restore it to like new, close to stock condition. Unfortunately I can’t complete the project any time soon so I am looking for someone who wants to pick up where I left off. I have all of the receipts and hundreds, maybe thousands, of pictures documenting every step of the work.
Here is what has been done so far.
I have restored the frame and drivetrain and have a complete running, rolling chassis:
- Frame stripped to bare metal, epoxy primed, and painted with an industrial matte black paint that is used to paint the chassis on Caterpillar heavy machinery.

It is a 76 with older doors (vent Windows), a OM 617 swap, lift w/33x10.5 BFG Mud Terrain KM2's. It currently has a oem style soft top on real-steel bows and barn door rear doors. I also will include the original Hardtop w/ambulance doors. It is located in Wilmington De. I am looking to get $10,000 but am open to any serious offers. I have a 1981 BJ 41 with a 2B Diesel and a H41 Transmission. It has a Bestop Softtop with soft doors and a Bikini Top with half doors. It is currently fitted with a set Recaro Front Seats, no back seats.
Has had the head gasket replaced and some other minor engine work and runs well, shifts well and drives well. Factory Power Steering and PTO Drive box ( No Winch ) .
She has a Nevada as a Diesel so is an easy swap to CA Title ( I just did it on my other truck )
Running 16" Alloy Centerline wheels with 33 x 12.5 tires in good condition.
Now I won't lie it has some rust and needs some love. She is a solid base for a build and runs and drives well BUT she could do do with some body panels and love. I do have a few other Cruiser tubs...
