Close to stock FJ40 was restored about 12 years ago with a majestic metallic blue paint including the engine bay interior and replacement of the steel tub with a rust-proof aluminum!
It has the stock 2F engine and 4 speed on the floor.

Up for sale is my 1981 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40. It features the indestructible Toyota B diesel engine (gets 30 mpg highway). Diesel models were never sold in the U.S., and as a bonus this truck is the rarer left-hand drive model.
I’ve put a ton of love, care (and money) into this truck, but have taken a new job with the military, plan to move soon, and just don’t have the free time to enjoy the truck these days.

I have an f model motor from a 1973 FJ 40. It was removed running 25 years ago and stored in my garage. Currently it is in my well house. It was running when removed to instal a Chevy V8. It has approximately 130,000 miles on it. I would recommend rebuild. Manifolds/Carbs/Alternators long ago removed, so pretty much a long block. reasonable offer accepted, must pickup.

Looking for advice on this one. Not real knowledgeable but this is kinda what I’m looking for.
State of Ca cruiser, no rust, previously daily driver until complete rebuild. Nearly every nut, bolt, and part has been removed, rebuilt or replaced with new parts. Body sand blasted, tub sides/panels replaced as needed. Tub off, frame sand blasted, epoxy primed, , underbody painted or undercoated. New windshield, Bestop soft top.
Engine is a rebuilt 350 with Advanced Adapters to stock Toyota 4-speed. Transmission, transfer case, and running gear all rebuilt. Vehicle has been driven 722 miles since restored.

SOLD - 1972 FJ40 Land Cruiser. Runs very well and has 52,400 documented miles. It has a production date of June 1972. Everything works!
Exterior: The body tub is solid. Pass side rear quarter showing small are of rust. Front and rear floor pans, rear sill, and quarter panels except as noted are solid. Frame is very good condition. 73 FJ Complete frame off rebuild last year. Orange and black color scheme. Body and frame sandblasted. Several body panels replaced. Professionally installed Line X interior. I just bought another FJ40 and so I'm selling mine. Here are the details:
The truck has a Chevy 305 V8, GM power steering, Toyota 4 speed, front disc brakes, 35" Goodyears with very little wear, Warn 8274 winch up front, spring over lift on aftermarket springs, rear Aussie locker, and 6 pt roll cage. The spring over, locker, and roll cage were all professionally done by Proffitt's in Colorado. There are pics of the front and rear linkages that were added by Profitt's. The tub and wheel wells have been bedlined. Several brand new parts have recently been added - fuel pump, Edelbrock carb, distributor, plugs, wires, battery, starter and alternator. Alrighty all, I've been shopping for nearly a year. I have 1975+ (76-78 focus) daily searches on here, Craigslist (15 US cities), Autotrader, Cars.com, Hemmings, Ebay and every week or so I get creative beyond these.
At this point I'm requesting advice from the community. I've watched prices and inventory ebb and flow, but more-so ebb in the past ten months.
