I’ve enjoyed listening to the podcast commuting since I found it a few weeks back. I use Spotify on an iPhone good there.
If you have Mark on you’ll need to do a few part episode. I don’t think you could cover all the interesting stuff and camp...
So I am going to be working on @65swb45 to be a guest. But I have figured out what I am going to do for the giveaway. And you will have some time to think about it while I get the prize sorted out. What it is going to be is tell me what your...
Got the Ranger stuck trying to plow a path to the cabin. Pretty sure my back road won’t be accessible for a while. Got stuck in the first 50' of the attempt.
We've had a couple of feet of snow on the ground in the woods since November/December...
Installed the axles and C Clips. Cover. Metric Overland stainless hardware.
Next I added the Dobinsons IMS shocks. Absolutely the best fj40 shocks by a wide margin.
Finally I added a new pinion seal and flange to convert the driveshaft...
Had to really bear down on these to get the crust off from the chrome caps but they came clean.
Got it all in the paint booth
First coat down of the $15 a can paint
While that’s drying I stabbed the 3.70. As I always say, put the one you...
Have I vented about the Colorado Colombian that must have built this truck yet today?
Please don’t glue your paper and cork gaskets on your axle.
Please. That turns a 15 minute scrape and clean into a multi tool hour long job
Spent an hour this morning divesting myself of a couple of 60s I bought last year to part out. After dicking with one parts Cruiser and the cost of shipping and the hassle and the unreasonable jackasses I decided I’m out of the used parts...
I’ve not been driving Whale much. Mainly using it for tow duties of late and running around my 80.
Had to move some customer trucks around so it’s back in duty
Going to a cars and coffee in dtla tomorrow. Decided to get some of these parts off the work bench and on the FJ40.
I ordered this replacement dome light from Toyota, but the new version sucks. It has a dowel for the top instead of a screw...
The parts soaked overnight in Zepp Purple full strength and all the goop came off nice and clean this morning
Front axle. Man. More flakey paint removal
Finally, cleaning the 3.70s I purchased for the project
Went ahead and got the axle out of the way so I can get all this shackle reversal nonsense cut off and clean the frame or the rest of the shiny black flakey paint so we can build it back correctly next week
I got one side all torn down and decided I needed to take advantage of the conditions and burn off some massive piles of leaves we’ve made lately. Back on Whitey tomorrow and through the weekend. Parts are starting to land
Great job. You are a very talented mechanic. I don't think very many folks would have taken on that project. But you did it to perfection.. Good luck on passing your smog test.
