Here's an update to the FJ40 Frame Number Chart in post #113 that includes estimates for 1961-63 starting frame numbers. These estimates are extrapolated from Land Cruiser Production Totals and 1961-63 frame numbers listed in the 40 Series Registry.

Curious what you come-up for mine: FJ40-162292
Up to now I used the carb build date as the anniversary date (had to celebrate the 50 years last year ), which I think is the closest but probably in advance of a few days from the truck build date. Engine block build date is 15 days before the carb.

Ok and I'll post some info I was able to figure out. I get this information on my paper Master Catalogs using the revision ref code backward. It's quite indirect and would be a lot of work to workout all dates but quite useful to figure out when the big changes happens.

The very last frame number for the pre-F.5 FJ40 is FJ40-160000 and the very first F.5 starts at FJ40-160001. But I agree with you that they bumped all the FN for this revision. There is a revision of only 1 FN for each type to end the pre-F.5 era (including the engine serial).

Original owner washington state from 74-2006

I have all the paperwork and receipts from 2006 on when it was bought from first owner. Would love to learn more about its early life when I get motivated to dig.
