Trying to figure out what the amount looks like for the minimum looks like be various things washes, nuts, bolts, and other. For me just need to make sure I have at least that.

What I ask for is Tri yellow Zinc. I think it's as close to the original Cadmium as you can get. A lot depends on when the plater recharges his baths. You get an old batch and it won't be nearly as nice as a newer batch. Most older zinc processes are Hex yellow zinc. It's a dull dark finish and not close in my opinion to what Cad looks like.

My plater only tumble plates parts. They are a big industrial facility. But they do a great job. Have learned a lot over the years. I bought a plating system for in house plating for our restorations of special parts that can't be tumbled.

I am in north Jersey,I have a buddy who is a high end corvette restorer,he has a guy he uses and supposedly he's very responsible .I will give him a call tomorrow and then get back to you tomorrow night.

I am looking to get a bunch of original cruiser parts plated and would love some leads on companies that offer the service. I was in contact with the Yellow Zink guy in New Jersey and he isnt taking orders now and or in the near future.
I have seen a few threads while searching but haven't seen any sources besides the Yellow Zink guy..

If someone knows the lingo as well to tell local plating folks, that too would be helpful.

Any help would be appreciated!

@KFJ45. Hope all is well man. For the GOLD- zinc plating, contact below. Tell them I referred you (Jason Reed from PG&E who has the Toyota Landcruiser). I highly suggest shipping it in a wooden box (you can build cheap) and ship UPS. I had issues with the weight and shipping of the parts through USPS in a gorilla taped flat rate and @Rock40 and I began to stress big time. So, second time around we did the wooden box thing. And when I tell you this, I'm not kidding on their price. Dirt cheap and quality. $75 for an entire 5-gallon bucket full (85 lbs.) of hardware.

Cost me 50$ for a box/bucket full of nuts, bolts, mirror, door, headlight parts....

I sand blasted everything before I took it to them.

Went by the Alpine location and chatted, they are a big operation for sure. $125. Minimum will get you a bunch done for sure. In talking with them I see what I have to do so I will get a good job. More work in cleaning and bead blasting TNX for the line on the location.

For the record, I've used EPS in Hayward, now for 3 batches of gold cad. I dump everything in a bucket of diluted purple power, let it sit overnight, wire brush the nasty stuff off (think bell housing bolts and the like), and take it in. They do all the soda/glass blasting and prep work. The hardware i delivered was 'clean', but if you rummaged through it, your hands would still have some grease and dirt on them. They tank it all two or three times to truly clean the stuff before plating.

Not here to knock any other shop, but just know there are different levels of service out there, and all for different prices. Personally, I hate spending time degreasing hardware. I pray for the day when every last crusty bit of the cruiser is clean and hiding under a fresh coat of paint or plating, then I can start getting it dirty all over again!

That is interesting, do they have a minimum also if there is paint on the bolt heads or screws do they take care of that for you.

The last place I used was (a couple of months ago) was Rochester Overnight Plating. They did a pretty good job.

I still use Alpine still reasonable just had some done couple of weeks ago about a 2 week turnaround.
