Would you drive 500 miles in your cruiser?

...Once drove it about 1800 miles in 20 hours, stopped off at the in-laws on the way out and back for a couple hours sleep...

Sir Knight, I respectfully call BS. Average speed for 1800 miles in 20 hrs is 90 mph.

The armstrong steering, bias tires and the stiffest suspension (PO installed a RANCHO kit with re-arched springs?) i have ever been in will were you out, but its still a fun trip.

That's some Iron Butt, Iron Back, Iron Neck, and Iron,...er, no, Numb B@lls.

Drove my stock 72 - 40 from Panama Beach Florida to C.S. Colorado about six years ago. Too long, but great time.

Just got back yesterday from 800 mile trip from Denver, CO to Boise, ID. Bought Maggie, a 1978 with the straight six, and drove 60 - 65 the whole way.

No problems... added oil a couple of times, but other than being deaf... No problems.

Would gladly do it again.

I used to drive 600 hundred miles trips once or twice a mounth for two years in 73 40. And in the midle of that some hardcor wheeling the only problem I ever had was clogged fule filter.

Since 1991 my 74 fj40 has been my daily driver, I have put about 226,000 miles on it! I bought it with 204,000 miles on it. 430,000 miles and still runs great...no power...but starts everyday! I used to go on 500 miles trips many different weekends. Toyota is the best !

my 78 fj40 drives and acts like a tank! Sure I am less a window- but that was from the 10 people who picked it up and righted for me.

500 miles in my FJ40

I recently made the 1000 mile round trip from El Paso texas to Mason Texas for the Lone Star Round up. I also pulled my M-416 trailer. It was not as bad as I thought it would be. I will have to say that XM radio with headphones was the ticket.

when i first got my cruiser years ago(25years ago ) . it was my DD .drove it to phoenix from moab , drove it to the grand canyon for river trips . a good stereo will help the ride.
