are you keeping a tab on how much you are going to have in the rebuild? im betting at this point you probably could have put a 1hz together with a brand new short block and head and still be in it for less money

I am sir. It's a pretty thick binder at this point.

And yes, you are correct to point this out and you are not the only person to do so.

The main issue is that I'm not an oil burner kind of guy. I like the smell of petrol better.

:)

With bio-diesel you have the option to smell like fried chicken (a southern staple), fried fish (another southern staple),
fried okra (well you get the idea) ..... None of the delicious aromas are available with a gas burner.

I bet there's going to be a bit of anxiety once the 2F is installed and it's time for that first turn of the key.

Indeed. I was talking to Poser about this last night Jim and he said not to worry too much about it because I am doing everything correctly and accurately.

After all, there is only so much one can do to a tractor motor with AC. ;)

Yeah, not so much into the southern foods or the diesel.

Lots of pretty pictures.

There is an issue in this pic. the oil pump block has been removed. There is a reason the mounting bolts are heavily staked: its to remind people to never remove the part.

Correct Jim. Poser made that observation/point to me very clearly last night during our discussion. It was my ignorance during the removal process.

It will be addressed correctly.

Part number for the oil pan bolts with captive washers. Made in USA. :( One of the few things on this engine that will be US sourced Toyota parts.

You are going to find that those new Toyota oil pan bolts (90080-11675) are too short by almost 3/16". They are not the same length as the originals (& are not the same bolt.. the starting thread is not tapered). I just installed a new pan with those bolts....
I had to install the new pan & gasket with the old bolts. Then when it was all snugged up, replace the old bolts with the new short ones so they could reach the threads..but just barely.

My feeling now is to replace ALL 22 of those new bolts with longer stainless steel M8 bolts with the associated washer and lockwasher nightmare... but I just don't feel too enthusiastic about doing that right now.

Thanks for the tip. I might just pull up another part number with the same properties and just extend the length. :)

I'd go with 90080-11251.

That's a 5T 8x20 with a captive lock washer.

He is a Shaman indeed.... And you read my mind.

I ordered the following:

90080-11220
90080-11230
90080-11231
90080-11251
90080-11260

Overkill?

Yeah. Oh well. They will go back to Toyota if not used.

I wouldn't bother with the others.

Order submitted.

I *know* you are correct but I want to see what I get from the depot and go from there.

I also wanted to see if I would get Jap hardware as opposed to Hecho in USA.
