Master pull. It's 100', 5/16". I plan to re-spool this weekend. It's tough to operate the winch and spool it evenly by yourself!

I know what you mean. I just respooled my PTO winch by myself over the weekend. Took the DD to a quiet street in the neighborhood with a slight grade and pullled the little DD up toward me while I guided the line back on. Boring...

Pablo,My wraps look O.K.?:D Forgot to mention my friend Steve at Southeast Overland for educating me on Synthetic. Thanks Steve.

Yep, yours looks nice and even. I think the basic idea is that you don't want the cable/line to be able to be pinched under a load if it did not have an even layer underneath it.

Got the 5 speed installed .. Cannot believe the difference :)

looking forward to my conversion :bounce:

that is one short drive shaft

The most satisfaction came from the front clip beautification project. 15 or so years ago I thought it would look tough if I painted the bezel flat black. I realize now that was a mistake. So I re-finished the bezel in off-white, painted the grill, polished headlight rings, installed new headlights, Rubbed the oxidation off of the blue paint, and did a little work on the Toyota emblem.

the eyes wouldn't bulge as much if you use the spacers that came between the bezel and bib

Truly jealous, what an awesome setup. Great picture, too.

Finally got the last of my weatherstripping. It is every piece available for a 76. I can't believe this is about $2k worth of rubber... a bit depressing. At least it was discounted through Lowe Toyota though!

You mind detailing that in this thread: https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/734769-fj40-weatherstripping-guide.html

I'd like to have part number, description, and cost so we can compare third party to OEM. This is the first full kit I've seen in a while.

Was at the recycle dump today and realized,
LG washing machine - 10 years old - no more parts available
HP all in one printer - 11 years old - no more parts available
West O Matic hot water tank - 10 years old - no more parts available

But most parts for my 35 year old Cruiser are still available:bounce::bounce2:

I do have the part #'s still for just about everything, but I don't have the prices I paid. I try to forget when I spend large sums of money on stuff like this...

But yes, I will add info to that link ;)

The best thing I've done for my Cruiser yet- new shocks to replace the originals- which were of course shot.

I can not believe how much better this thing rides now. It takes bumps without throwing all my **** in the air. I don't have to slow down for those dips in the road as I did before. The terrible wheel balance issue that cam with my STA tires is significantly lessened. Its a whole new truck- highly recommended maintenance. If you are riding around on old shocks- Bilstein 5125's on all corners- you'll love the difference.

I recently changed the shocks in my Troopy. (About 3 weeks ago.) It still bounces around like the rear end of a 'roo but I put that down to there being nothing in the back.

I just registered it in my state 2 weeks ago. Had to register it as a light bus!! (11 seats). Fortunately I avoided 'heavy vehicle inspection' requirements.

Ordered new personalised number plates this week: 84 TOJO

That's because our Cruisers were built before the concept of a 'disposable society' took on such an economic imperative. Luckily the bean counters at Toyota are still a bit slow to cotton on to that, but I'll be surprised to see many 35 year old Prius (Prii?) running around - much less needing parts to do so.

When folks have things like fridges which last 20 years, that also does not work well with styles which change every season. Good thing that the beauty of a Cruiser is timeless:grinpimp:

Got a new brake line and brake fluid today so I can drive it again. Going to swap the carb today too to see if I can get it to run better. :(
