I am not a car thief but that FR cut off is kinda useless with access to the terminals right handy.

Maybe so but not with the hood closed and locked

Even if locks only keep honest people out of things anyway maybe this one won't be ripped off.

PixelWrangler thanks for the link I am going to get in touch with him.

Test fit a new canvas OCD bikini top/duster (looks killer).
Installed an OE license plate frame and light
Replaced front spring bushings, pins, 4* shims, and new u-bolts.
Installed my recently repaired stock radiator

The most satisfaction came from the front clip beautification project. 15 or so years ago I thought it would look tough if I painted the bezel flat black. I realize now that was a mistake. So I re-finished the bezel in off-white, painted the grill, polished headlight rings, installed new headlights, Rubbed the oxidation off of the blue paint, and did a little work on the Toyota emblem.

I haven't had this Cruiser on the road in 5 years and I do believe I'm only a few days away from heading down to the DMV and getting it registered. I'm pretty stoked.

Looks good! Congrats on getting it back on the road

Thanks! As it withered away in my driveway, I kept seeing FJ40's around and I'd say to myself "damn, that's pretty cool......... Oh wait, You HAVE ONE dummy!" Started getting it back together last summer and continued this spring. I'm almost there.

To paraphrase one of my favourite movies, 'whenever a Cruiser returns to the road, an angel gets her wings'.

Replaced Napa clutch master that had <200mi on it. :bang:
Swapped carb, runs well now, but not much seat time so far.
Moved trailer lights from my other rig. I had towed a couple times with no brake lights or blinkers, no more.
Finished up my dual e-locker controller. :)

Got the transfer case put back together after 3 months. Roar from TC is much improved but it now runs like **** from sitting. Maybe some injector cleaner will help.

Turned out the cap and rotor were corroded from sitting. Cleaned them up and it runs great. Odd to hear all those other noises that used to be drowned out by the TC noise.

Pete that is one great looking truck... Classic pic

I've never uploaded a pic from ih8mud into my screensaver folder before but I have now....

Lets see now, its been so long since I posted what have I done? Other than pulling the radiator to access the bolt holding the alternator since I put the damn thing in from the wrong side months ago. Swapped the bolt around so I can pull it out without having to pull the hole damn front end again in the event I have to pull the alternator. While I was there I swapped out the belts to longer ones that actually fit better so both the alternator and power steering pump are at better positions. (Now I actually have two belts I can replace by number as I was smart enough this time to make sure they fit well and then placed the sleeves they came in into the glove box for use at a later time. Reinstalled the radiator and power steering cooler. Pulled and reinstalled most of the wiring since the company that built it assembled the fuse box INCORRECTLY. I had no power to the lights no matter what I did. That is till CruiseOrlando came over to take a look and helped me figure out what was outawak. Thanks Carter. Pulled the fuse block, moved the wire to the spot it was supposed to be in to begin with, reassembled the whole damn thing again, started re-running the wiring to the dash, under the hood, and to the rear of the vehicle so I can actually have brake/tail/turn and reverse lights at some point. Then re-ran the wiring in wiring loom to the tail lights themselves, making sure to have it as high and out of the way of anything that might be mean to wires. Lots of wire hangers/clips/loom/and as much water proofing crap to kill a..................... something.
Drilled a half dozen holes for rubber grommets to run the wiring loom thru in numerous places under the thing. Now, hopefully no cut/shorts in all that new wiring.
Installed the new double battery tray I bought something like two plus years back from someone on the board and found that it only has all four hold down rods but only one hold down clamp (on top) for one battery. Damn, what luck. Gotta either make a duplicate of find one that will work since I have no idea who I bought it from so damn long ago. Mounted the Flaming River "kill switch" on the firewall and put together the battery cables with new lugs on the ends for use with the military grade batter terminals I plan on using. Lets see,,,,,,,,,,,I know there is more, just so damn tired now, I can't remember. Pics to follow for those that like them.
Hope everyone had a good Father's Day and a good weekend. Its off the shower for me now.

Wow. Just tonight I was studying my alternator bracket and wondering if the bolt went through the front or the back! You just saved me some heartache.

Also do you mind posting up the size of those belts? I'm running a Mini Truck PS pump.

My radiator is still out so I have plenty of access now, but hopefully not for long. Thanks for the timely post.

Tried t get mine fixed today because some dirt bag stole the catalytic converter off my 4 Runner.
