Welded up some extra holes on the top side of the bumper, flapped disc'd it, primed, painted it pewter,& added new s.s. hardware.

Installed OEM style family cage and modded center seat back to fold down for an arm rest.

Love the roll bar, and need one.
I have the stock bar in my '74 and have an extra, can I make this out of 2 stock roll bars?

Yes, thats what I did.

Painted the original steel wheels with Massey Furguson paint from Tractor Supply and slipped on some KM2 3x10.5x15.
Big difference from the 14.5 width 33's. Its like getting power steering.

Tried to take it wheeling this weekend.

My car had been in the shop all week so I'd been driving the cruiser. Running great, everything was working great, I as excited to take it wheeling for the first time in a while.

Pulled out of the driveway Sunday morning on our way to meet the group... the front wheels start howling like crazy. No idea what was up. We pulled over and checked, couldn't find anything strange. Got back on the road... still doing it. So we turned around and unloaded the cruiser and took my wife's truck instead. So sad. Still was a lot of fun, but would have been more fun in my cruiser.

Guess it's time to rebuild the knuckles anyway, they were starting to leak. My best guess at this point is a wheel bearing issue.

Does hard top still fit on?
I dont know yet...... I think it will but wont find out til the top goes back on in the fall. If it does'nt my plan is to bend the rear hoop slightly forward.

Well what started out as a leaking master cylinder is now an axle/disc brake swap from a '85 FJ60 lol. I am going to replace hard brake lines as soon as I get the axle done.

Got the new motor stuffed in and fired off! Runs great! Ready to install the air cleaner and a few other things and I should be on the road again.

YIKES!!! That's beautiful. That valve cover color is awesome.

Certainly curious what a fresh 2F feels like.

With mine all the way back, and a home built tub, I had to shorten the rear hoop 1" and modify the rear brackets so they would clear the corner windows. Yours appears to be further forward... I also had to cut off the corner of the hoop mounting plate to clear the corner of the 1/4 pannel. To do it over, I'd mount it further forward.

There are pics in this thread...

The rear hoop touches the inside of the gutter above the hatch. A little closer than I planned :D

This pic makes me wish I didn't part with the long jump seats I had... Didn't see a use for them at the time

I got the body sitting on the new frame. There is a lot of tube work I still have to do. With the body on I can finish all of it, and get her rolling again.

Here is my rough drawing of the chassis with the body pealed away. There is a few things this drawing doesnt show. The front shock mounts, and the rear shock mounts are not set in stone yet but they will also tie the chassis together for more strength.

I had to get a picture of my helper! We had to sneak out in the shop while the wife was gone.

Took delivery of the "new" LC, a 1984 TROOPY, over the moon!

Found her on Ebay Australia, a true 'barn find', been in somebody's barn for 12 years, not registered since 2000... Pretty stock, apart for the wheels, flares and radio shelf (which will go soon).
I've since sourced some stock split rims for it, they'll be going on soon. Just gonna keep it for a while, won't bother registering it, not gonna drive it too far. I have the privilege that I've got a 'traders' plate, so I'll use that whenever I want to drive it around the block.

Done 165.000 kms, still got the bench seats in the back too. Had a mint FJ55 years ago and always wanted another FJ, well, here it is...:grinpimp:
