^^^ Doing the same tomorrow. Got a new wheel hub (locking hub studs broke off and stripped the threads) yesterday, got it all cleaned up and ready for new wheel bearings today. Taking my time, but it should be done tomorrow so I can drive it around this weekend!

New dual battery tray and ARB pump for future lockers.

The 4+ tray would not fit from the shop due to my oversized alternator.

With some help from Batcon, there was an extension added to push it further back.

Fortunately, this opened up the perfect spot for my ARB pump.

Criticism of this setup is welcome, as it is all custom and there may be something I missed...

Looks nice man!
Where did you source the ARB compressor, I would like to do the same, in preparation for lockers...
Thanks

I picked up my new (1968) FJ40! :grinpimp:

Haven't done much of any work to it yet (it's been raining here every day I get home from work) so I've just getting it cleaned out and making note of what needs to be done. It runs strong and everything seems to work like it's supposed, so it's mainly small things. So far all I can see it needs is a hinge for the earlier style flat spare tire carrier and the top for the washer fluid bottle.

Anybody here got any ideas of where I can locate those parts for a reasonable price?

Rolled up the windows on my new top!

Can the hinge be rebuilt? Oilite bushings are available in all sorts of sizes.

The washer lid... the classifieds.

Fan Shroud

Finished my fan shroud and installed it. Made a world of difference! Now it idles forever and stays below 195°. :bounce: Before it would easily climb to 215°~220° due to my fan being about 4" away from the radiator and sucking air from everywhere but through the core. :bang:

For the curious, I opted not to finish sanding and making the outside smooth and purdy because this shroud will be replaced by a new one after the Ranger overdrive is installed hopefully later this year. The geometry will be completely different then, with the engine a few inches closer to the radiator.

All in all, I'm extremely pleased with my first attempt at building a fiberglass shroud. I've made a few notes on things that I'll do a bit differently next time.

Attempted to install the BJ42LX sliding windows on my '74 hardtop only to find that the overlap between the window frame and the flange for the window would provide an insufficient contact area for the windshield adhesive used to hold the window in.

I put the OEM one piece glass back in while I decide if I want to just sell off the LX windows or cut an adapter plate.

I also got my new Bestop Trailmax II rear seat installed. I still need to weld in a bracket for the harnesses.

Rear windows that open are very worthwhile. I'd make it work.

1. New, used JTO rear tube bumper mounted.

2. Blue paint sanded off grille, then primed the grille. Going back to black whenever it stops raining.

3. New Lokar Throttle Cable setup

4. Rebuilt the quadrajet. Sealed up the welch plugs. Traded in my fuel leakage issues for idle issues . New fuel lines down to the pump, replaced carburetor fuel filter and in-line fuel filter.

5. Put some thread sealer on the manifold bolts to (hopefully) prevent them from leaking oil.

Finally got the Warn 8274 all redone and put back together. Still have to do the solenoid pack and wire her up. I think I may have gone too silver on the finish though. Was hoping for a darker pewter looking color. Any recommendations on synthetic line?
