Since putting the hard top back onto Olive, she no longer fitted into the garage.I am happy to report that after some butchering to the door, she is out from underneath the awning and back into the garage

Installed tranny to transfer connection hose , changed fluids, drove it to the Cigar lounge.

I started mine today. Just inherited a 79 Red FJ40 that is a family jewel. It hadn't been started in about 16 months so obviously we needed a little jump, especially in the chilly weather here in MA.

Then I started making a list of all the stuff it needs. Need to get the washer fluid pump working so it will pass inspection. Need to get the fuel gauge fixed. Need to figure out why it leaks so much oil and how much work the engine, carb, air filter and tranny need done.

But the good news is that it runs, the suspension and muffler are new, and the body at least appears nice at a casual glance. Looking forward to spring weather.

Let's see some pics! What part of Mass are you from? Saugus here.

:pWOW - you have to have a working window washer to pass inspection????? That just blows me away - at least it should be an easy fix.

Finally pulled my speedometer cable and shot some lube into both the cable and the housing .The speedometer would make a horrible racket and scare the beejesus out of me seems the lube has done the trick ! I also found some time to install a new seal on my rear hatch as well and that wasn't a very pleasant task that damn adhesive ! Have a great week everyone

Installed my additional reverse light. Now I can actually see when I am backing down the driveway or down a trail.

Pete

Hi Pete,

Saw the photos you posted of your new reverse light mounted in your spare's hub cap. Excellent idea! Mind sharing how you mounted that up? And which light you used? Looks look a perfect fit!

Thanks,
Chad

When to the Local Toyota Dealership in Granbury Tx and finally got some OEM wheels! What do you think?

33 x 10.50s?

Looks good!

that's what they told me when it failed 2 years ago, even though the roof hasn't been on it in 10 years. I am hoping it's just a clog in the hose at the basin.

Here's the best picture of have.

LOL, yea they where locked in, I did that trick like the 2nd day I had the truck. Its on jack stands now, can't get it to shift into 2H either. Crawled under and the linkage for shifting to 2H position is held together with a large cable tie...so I'm pretty sure I have some major issues with my tranfer case.

Got the beast in 4 wheel drive tonight, yea, yea, yea.

Got this home made 200 + pound skid plate off...only to find another rats nest. Guess that's what you get when someone let's this poor fj40 sit for years and years. An hour worth of press washing got it to where I could at least see the tranny transfer case, and PTO :-). One strep closer to getting it back on the road.

Holy crap! I thought the nest in my glove box was bad! For what it's worth - sometimes the rats hoard treasure - I found an unused in-line fuel filter and no less than 5 unused spark plugs woven into the mouse nest!

Put the top back on and solved my coolant leak.

I have just started to replace a throttle cable on a 1977 FJ40, with a Weber 2 barrel carb. The linkage and cable brackets are all jerryrigged, anyone got a photo or diagram that shows attachment? Where can a guy find the OEM brackets and linkages for this.
