Replaced the aftermarket steering wheel with a stock 1969 steering wheel. Now I just need the parts to make the horn button functional. Replaced the 1.75" lift, greasable, anti-inversion tri-shackle with the stock pieces. Stock Rules!! On a related note the aftermarket shackles are for sale.

Finished hatch install into my 1981 hardtop.:D

Put a new lock on the ambulance door. When I was reinstalling the handle, the bolt end broke. Another 29-year-old piece of useless metal gone. Promptly ordered a new handle.

filled it up with 2.59 cent per gallon gas. Drove it last couple days ........75 degs........what a nice time of the year to drive your fj40..........with no top:steer::steer::steer:

Fixed the Weber vacuum leak

My weber 38/38 has had a vacuum leak (carb to base, base to riser, riser to manifold) since I got the beast a couple of months ago. I installed new gaskets from JTO, and it STILL leaked. So, I said:flipoff2:it, and bough a roll of make-it-yourself gasket, cut my own gaskets, and slapped them on - NO MORE VACUUM leaks from the carb... now I just need to retune the carb...

I loaded all my parts boxes into it for wheeling tomorrow :steer:

when I was done, I noticed that I had forgotten the axle shafts  I was too lazy to take the three boxes out that usually sit on top of them :meh: - I am just not gonna break an axle tomorrow ;p

Installed my new roundeyes and finished up my cs 130 alternator. Huge difference!!

Fixed the fuel gauge with a lot of help from fellow MUDders. After several installs and replacements I think it was the ground. At any rate it works and the timing couldn't have been better, it was almost empty. Installed a CD player where the PO installed cassete was.

Made a santas sliegh and 4 deer, bolted it to the 40 for Xmas parade posting pics tomarrow....

I fabbed and welded a new bib support(that reinforcement piece that's spot welded to the inside bottom of the bib)then dropped the whole thing off at the powder coater.

Rebuilt two wheel cylinders, Bleed the brakes, charged the battery and drove it for the first time in about a month...:steer:

Discovered my altenator wasn't getting excited so I ran a wire from a switched fuse to excite it. Drained and filled my coolant. Fixed a break in my taillight wire. Will start driving it to work on Monday

Adjusted the brakes, tightened up a bunch of stuff, set the timing and mixture so I wouldn't pass out in the garage, and got the fuel gauge working. Also, my center arm kit and drag link came in today from MAF. It was a good day!
