Because the previous owner had drilled a big hole for one, and only the screws were left. So I put a new one on with the same mounting points. Not attached to anything currently. All for looks at this point. 😂

Went with this option on mine, color matched some screws. Kinda like your option, though

After what has seemed like never ending rain, we had a nice day on Sunday, so I thought it would be safe to head across town in the blue ‘67. Unfortunately, my son and I got caught out in an unexpected storm that rolled in.

I’ve been driving it to drop my kids off in the mornings and to work, but had to jumpstart it yesterday. Last night, I traced a parasitic drain to a stuck on horn button (horns had been unplugged). Took me about 5 minutes, including referring to the diagram to check which circuit it was. For anybody thinking about re-wiring, definitely stick to the OEM diagrams/ schemes!

For the record, 40mph is too fast with the windshield down (but it made the hot day feel nice!).

That will work unit a large flying bug makes the collision with your upper body instead of the windshield.

Not a big deal to motorcycle riders, just sayin'. :meh:

The thing that gets me isn't necessarily the bugs (though they sting a little), but the smells. Not sure if anybody knows the Knoxville, TN area, but my commute takes me the length of Neyland Drive (by Neyland Stadium) along the Tennessee River. You go from river smells, to concrete mixing/ machinery, then a steak house, with river smells popping in. Once you've passed the city river smells, you've get hit in the face with the smell of the bradford pear trees. :vomit:

The three time I look the roof off I never dropped the windshield. But every time I had the roof off it would rain and the last time it snowed.

Didn't have trouble with bugs but at night it was cold driving here in Wyoming, during the day it was nice if it didn't rain.

My buddy was riding his bike and collided with a June bug and almost raked him off the bike,
That reminded me of the time I overtook a bee with my wrist at about 50 mph. I thought I'd been shot!

I doubt I will ever take the top off again but was thinking of getting a tail gate panel and just take the doors off for summer rides.

I think that is how he felt.

Melted wire fun! Unearthed tonight on my FJ60 behind fuse box just before the scheduled long drive home from the farm. Upon starting after 2 weeks of PS box install, I realized I had no headlights, horn, hazards, gauge light, etc. and think this has just gotten worse and worse apparently. Think this happened when PO had it as the taillight fuse has always had melted plastic around it, or maybe its spread since ive driven it. Just pulled dash off to take these pics. Sitting in the farm garage.

Glad I found the mess fuse box has melted spots on it too. Got my hands full here...... started a thread: Melted Wires behind Fuse Panel: Real Time Help. Headlights, Horn, blinkers, hazards, door beep not working. - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/melted-wires-behind-fuse-panel-real-time-help-headlights-horn-blinkers-hazards-door-beep-not-working.1362670/

Gunna need to borrow someone's electrical  for this one!
