Without even clicking on the link - I have no desire to if they are showing a 12v cummins in the picture.....

I wondered at that myself, but it's actually a 3F(E?) in the video.
 
Is that a Burton Omen? Loved that board- I still have one in the fleet. Great for wide open powder turns.

Snow and ice are a way of life here. I love my 40, but it stays home tucked in the garage in snowy conditions. My 4wd tundra does well- with proper tires, without them it’s not gonna make it up the driveway. The awd sienna is an absolute beast, only downside is the clearance. Chains? I’ve never needed them outside of deep snow.

Enjoy the powder while it lasts.

Older Burton custom 162 was the white board and a B-line Super B 161 carbon with the flames. They were both great boards when I lived in Vail. Smooth as butter in powder, unfortunately I could only make a short run down the drive here in Ga. Totally fun though!

Put a heat shield on the Flowmaster muffler. The floor behind the driver’s seat was getting pretty hot. Just had to drop the rear hanger and it slid right in.

What part# heat shield did you purchase? I really need to do something similar.
This was the Flowmaster 51017 heat shield kit. It’s specifically made for their 51017 muffler that measures 10” wide by 17” long. Go to Jegs or any of the other sites and see what they have. Lots of generic kits out there but if you know what’s installed you may be able to find an exact kit.

Edit: just as a follow up, after driving for 30 minutes the floor behind the driver’s seat is just warm to the touch.

I need to check, but I’m pretty sure that is the same muffler I installed. From your pic, it looks pretty much the same. If I remember correctly, there aren’t many off the shelf mufflers that have the correct dimensions to fit in that spot.
 
I found some treasure on the local marketplace. The guy owned fj55 a long time ago this is what is left.
He is in Model T fun club now. He listed the bag for sale but found the manual right before I came. The manual is like new, stored in his house.

Why I won't use POR15 any longer:

It was time to replace the crappy "the nation's oldest and most trusted restorer of Land Cruisers" radiator with a genuine Toyota piece. This is the splash shield underneath. You can see all the rust and peeling gunk. The stuff might work on a very rough or sandblasted surface I guess. Just not on sanded or a wire wheeled surface. If you're starting with decent metal it's best to avoid. A real pita. I discovered new curse words.

100% it’s not the right product for most jobs. If you’ve got a totally rusted up piece of steel and you just want to slap some paint on it then it’s a fine product. As in, I have a rusted frame and want to sell it as restored! Hence the paint over rust thats in the name. My brain goes, why would anyone paint over rust? I digress so let’s get back to the tech point.

If you have any amount of prep going on then use anything else. Gauze, parchment paper, SPF 2 sunblock, thought and prayers may have better results*

*results may vary
 
This photo was taken last night and I am anxious to check the cold weather starts on the FJ40 with the Holley Fuel Injection …
Ran outside to start it and it literally started right up, stalled initially but ran well on the 2nd re-start. This was my biggest reason for going this route

Does your sniper seem to idle up fine when cold? That’s the only complaint I have with mine is it doesn’t seem to want to fast idle unless I manually give it some throttle the first few seconds. Kind of defeats the point.
 
Exactly ! It starts and idles poorly but a tap of the pedal gives it a smoother idle as long as it doesn’t stall….if it does, the second start seems to clear it all up. Mine also has sat for a few months at a time and while the colder weather has progressed.

Prior to the Sniper install, it would crank for 20-30 seconds until the fuel was getting pushed thru…cough…start, then stall 1 or 2 times then finally start and idle rough….press the gas pedal sometimes wildly and eventually it runs…. Tailpipe soot was an added bonus. That was the Weber carb on this ‘75 2F

My ‘74 FJ40 in 1974…was stock …always started most of the time no problems. In the cold Vermont winters ..full choke, but…it started. In January 1976, we had temperatures around -54F. This week it had trumped the usual coldest spots in the country and that was always Gunnison, CO and International Falls, MN

Mind you, I could not get it to shift gears at those temperatures until it REALLY warmed up
