Steering linkage rebuild and a disc knuckle swap on this clean ‘75. Wrapping the master and lines tomorrow and then onto EPS install.

Working through more small projects on my 77. When I first got this, I noticed that the batteries were old, at least the yellow top I could see had a date sticker on. Turns out that was actually a 2014 battery, and the Red Top was from 2003. Replaced them yesterday with two red tops.

IDK, Cruiser outfitters? I have no idea if they interchange. I know disc brake frt ends used a larger nut than drums. Maybe put a "wanted ad" in the classified section. Someone might forward one to you.

We definitely have all of the drum and disc specific spindle nuts and hardware. They are different. For drum, use:

Drum Spindle Thrust Washer:

Drum Spindle Lock Washer:

Drum Spindle Nut:

thanks for the link. ordered and will go from there.

Picked up better starting point than my last one! 75 from Vegas very clean for the year I think. Engine has not run in a couple years, lost spark and gave up on it. Garage kept missing jump seats. Looks to be de smogged. Will dig into in a week or two. Needs a fresh battery and terminals.

Looks like left front frame (passenger front) got tweaked up. Insurance would probably total it because of the frame.
I would by it back and run it with a salvage title.
Frame could most likely be straightened or a good welder could graft another piece in.
How about a pic of that side, looking up and along the spring towards the rear.

Glad no one was hurt.

I was not at the accident and now the insurance company has the vehicle. Waiting on the damage review. I tried to go check it out, but the tow company hired by the state took it and they wouldn’t let me take pictures. It was a shady place. I guess I’m glad the insurance company now has it at their storage place. It’s been over 20 some years since I’ve dealt with insurance company.

I would get her running ASAP! I love the ambulance doors.

I would check with @Aloha Jen and any other Oahu denizens for local parts and resources. Good luck!

Now with a new gas tank installed.
Not getting high from gas fumes while you drive is a big improvement.

Got an OEM tank from Toyota, but it does have more stamping and bosses on top than the original. Fits like a glove though.

@3Speed40ForLife Looking good, I'm surprised you can still get a brand new gas tank.

BTW my Mom is one of your neighbors and I've been checking out your 40 from afar. I'm over there every so often so if you need and extra eye I charge very few beers per hour to observe and talk cruiser.

This was in 1985. It still ran, and when I got it back from the insurance company and sold it to my BIL, he was driving it in less than a month. To be honest, he was a crazy sumbitch. It left highway 87 on the Bolivar peninsula at speed and flipped end over end 3 times on the beach. We found imprints of it in the sand. The wrecker charged an exorbitant price because he said it was upside down. We found out he had a 40 and wanted this one for parts. The only way to destroy a Land Cruiser is to let it rust.
