What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week? (66 Viewers)

I installed a 2000 Camry single DIN Toyota branded radio in my 60. They also came in early 2000s Corollas and seem to be about $10 at the junkyard. AM/FM/Cassette + optional trunk mounted CD changer. You can wire the CD changer input for Bluetooth, which I’ve done. So I have radio, tapes, and I can set up some music playing from my phone. No adapters, no visible wires. I bet it can be installed in a 40 as well. It’s just a matter of wires for battery power (if you care about preset radio stations), ignition power, speaker wires, and ground. The Bluetooth system I cobbled together takes more wiring.
Tubular!! Given Toyota's propensity for keeping part numbers in production, I don't suppose you have a part number for said stereo? Granted, you said it was in a 60 so I suppose it is single DIN, but it might fit with some small tweaks... Honestly, AM has great range, but it's the cassette I'm really after.

Installed a cityracer brake booster!! And a new master cylinder! What a difference.I highly recommend it!

No part number unfortunately, but here’s a photo:

Sweet! I'm in the process of updating my 2001 Trek 4300. New 100mm fork, 1x12 drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes, custom paintjob etc. I knew LandCruiser guys were all cyclists! LOL
Why would you dump a bunch of money into something that old….. oh, wait…never mind. It’s what we do.

@GreaseMonkey try retrosound manufacturing…. You may find some type of connection with Bluetooth or cabling that can get you there although I have not seen any cassette style radios in quite some time. By the way…. I did transfer several of these to a thumb drive to ATTEMPT TO keep up with technology

Got about 18 more to do

Apparently, cassette tapes are making a comeback!

Cassettes were messy in my 40…from bouncing around and rattling in the glove box, I had to take a pencil several times to rewind the loop of tape that spilled out of the middle of the cassette

I'd recommend Installing castor shims to compensate for the longer front shackles.

I've just installed some at the same time as I installed an axle with rebuilt knuckles, added longer shackles, and replaced all the TREs. I can now let go of my death grip on the steering wheel. It doesn't quite follow the curves in the road, but almost. I can let go of the steering wheel for the first time in the 32 years and more than 100k miles.
You are correct. That is on my "to do" list!

Those forms of media are all from my teen and early 20’s days. Back in 1971, I saved as much as I could and bought a Panasonic AM/FM/ 8 track radio that mounted , (get this) IN THE DASH of my VW bug… back then any accessory sound stuff was hung off the bottom of the dash. At 18 that was so cool… totaled the car a week later.

Installed new interior door handles, replaced some rotten rubber grommets, and I believe I found the cause of my off-idle stumble. Pulled the carb, took the top off and found the accelerator pump plunger folded over itself. Probably the reason behind a few of the issues I had.

I installed an old plunger i had in a box of carb parts and now it’s running great. The issue has been driving me crazy for the past month.

I had a Trek 8000 back in the day and loved that bike. In 2014, I bought a new-in-box unbuilt 2001 Schwinn Homegrown frame and built it as a SS. I recently converted it to "gravel" duty as a 27.5.

I'm still styling an old Bontraeger mtn bike with XC Pro, mavic sealed bearing bb, thumb shifters and an original rock shox fork lol

Cant wait to get my 76 40 back on the road to go along with.....

Stock the front drive flange would be perpendicular to the ground. Especially with larger tires 40s do better with 3-5* (degrees) of castor (stock being 1*). Long story short, for anyone adding in castor shims... measure the number of degrees to bring it back to perpendicular and then add an additional 2-4*. If you have P/S then id recommend to the higher end of the range... with Armstrong steering keeping to the lower end would be better.

I got the parking brake light functioning on my 40 series.
Now to tackle the turn signals.

Considering all the permutations that make that thing go on and stay off, congratulations!

Many folks here will tell you...turn signals are always grounds, assuming you have the correct bulbs.

Both functions wired in and no brake pressure surprises?

It wasn't until I got the light working that I realised my brakes needed adjusting...
