Look into Vacuforming!
I've done a lot of vacuum forming of plastics in my trade. I'd not recommend plexiglass for a trans tunnel. Plexiglass is notch sensitive and can/will crack with an impact. I'd choose Lexan over plexiglass. Although Lexan is hygroscopic and should be dried before molding to avoid bubbles in it. Although a window in it would be cool... although nearly impossible to keep clean on a 40 that doesn't live in a showroom. It certainly could be done if the correct procedures are followed.

Did you make that? It’s very nice!
Yes I made it. I have made most of my living over forty years making and selling miniatures.
Imagine what the frustration is to drop one of the parts on the floor.
I like to take a few day off every once in a while to go tinker on my 40 so I can drop larger things.
I pulled the rear driveshaft yesterday.
So far I haven't lost any parts.

How is the footwell clearance with the cage? That’s one thing I always wondered on one.
I have driven and been in several and had never noticed any interference or inconvenience, however when we initially tacked mine together to confirm clearance of the doors, window cranks, hardtop bolts etc. I became a little concerned, especially since this is a 78’ and later 40’s have slightly wider doors.

After trail riding all weekend, getting in and out what seemed like 100 times, I never adjusted my driving position or felt it changed the way I got in or out or operated the clutch. Visually tight yes, but not functionally in any way I noticed.
