What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

I have driven and been in several and had never noticed any interference or inconvenience, however when we initially tacked mine together to confirm clearance of the doors, window cranks, hardtop bolts etc. I became a little concerned, especially since this is a 78’ and later 40’s have slightly wider doors.

After trail riding all weekend, getting in and out what seemed like 100 times, I never adjusted my driving position or felt it changed the way I got in or out or operated the clutch. Visually tight yes, but not functionally in any way I noticed.

My experience is similar. Welded up the MetalTech cage with the A pillars as close as possible to the doors, but so they still close. The bottom of the A pillar is close to the clutch pedal; you quickly get used to feeling the A pillar with the outside edge of your foot when you engage the clutch pedal.

Yes, they (the ones with the more modern removable door panels, not sure what year that started) are wider to the inside.

Which doesn’t seem like much, but when you are accommodating both the door panel and the ability to crank the window up and down, it requires careful placement, but is eminently very satisfactory solvable!

If you look you can see where later doors bulge out just below the door panel.

The nicer thing about this epoxy floor is cleaning up spilled oil… a rag or paper towel and you’re done

I had an HVAC unit replaced last year and noticed they were hauling off the old drip tray and snagged it.

Is perfect to rest under a 2F and to also use under axle rebuilds etc., nice for catching fluids and fasteners!

Everytime I see one of those cages I want one a little more. MetalTech makes such a good cage... I want one.

I've been coveting their Jackson cage for years. Seems way less popular than the family cage, but I like that it keeps the original "lines" and that, with a little modification, or an adapter bracket, you could probably keep the jump seats too.

Maybe it's a regional thing, but in the southwest I've seen way more Jackson cages than Family cages. I bought my Jackson kit after seeing several others IRL.

Certainly with the family cage there is some liberty in design and assembly.

I really like the standard design and the Jackson cage, but wanted the family cage to accommodate a full bikini top.

As a deviation from most, I opted to keep the rear supports parallel with the ground and as an extension of the front bars. I have aluminum boxes that I am mounting on the fender wells for lockable storage.

That is a good question, probably attainable if the cage is put together with that in mind.

Surely someone has accomplished or at least tried.
