Had a couples days off so made a quick trip to Colorado to escape the triple digit heat. Found an excuse to lock the hubs looking for a campsite and did some tailings pile rockhounding at a couple sites

How does the 3B like elevation in Colorado? Never read much about diesels and elevation.

My 3B is pretty tired, so cold starts above 10k' can be a little rough. It's no rocket, but since adding the turbo it does a lot better at elevation and I can pull smaller hills in 4th and even 5th gear sometimes. I have made plenty of trips to high altitudes naturally aspirated and it still did fine, albeit a little slower and with more black smoke.

Hand Krafting upgraded OEM style in-dash ignition lock cylinder key switch kits

I have decided to step things up a notch by now including the best possible adhesive lined insulated crimp butt connectors by 3-M

One of the few made in the USA products im proud to say is now parts of the big picture equation ….

During a recent large order I was UNICORN,d up by mr. T

I have 3 sets or pairs of matching factory key codes in-dash ignition switches , if somebody had 2 personal in-dash equipped 40 series of 45 in theory they could have only one key code for both trucks on there key ring , pretty badd azz idea ….

I posted this in my build thread in the hard core section, but I figured everyone here might like it too.

Finally got my engine fired up....

Annual summer drive to this dealer 20 km west of Cranbrook, BC that always has a selection of Landcruisers . Prices range from $6500-$37000 Cdn. The asking price for the FJ45s is $20000. Good thing this far from my home and I have no room for more vehicles otherwise I might just to add a FJ45. Some are heavily modified (i.e. lifts SBC etc.) and others are stock. He also has a couple old defenders and a selection of Honda Big Red trikes.

I sold my Cruiser. Only the second time since 1988 that I've been without an FJ40 or 45. Feels kind of weird.

Carry on...

Assuming you got a price you’re happy with them after the no sale on BaT. Congrats.

Persevered. Been restoring the manifold, a few broken bolts and studs but this one was the worst for some reason. Tried welding it 5x but everything failed, ezout broke off in it, eventually used a hollow diamond bit and lots of water to keep it cool and drill around the ezout, that broke. Too many hours later I was able to drill it out and cut new threads.

Installed the water pump and new turn signals. Waiting for some parts to come back from the platers so I can install the radiator and plumb the heater.

Started stripping paint on my truck's windshield frame in prep for repaint. Of course, found thick layers of bondo from the PO. And turns out the bondo was covering up the bolt holes for securing the top cap to the windshield frame, so I'll clean those out and chase the threads.

Installed rebuilt 2f engine (donor - was virgin engine so a 10 over bore did the trick) along with clutch stuff (master/slave cylinders, etc). waiting for the water pump etc. PO installed weber carb and threw the accelerator linkage away (weber uses cable link) - chasing parts to get so can return to original carb. Will put cleaned-up valve cover on once done chasing rabbits down the holes.

Discovered manifold warped. Also re-discovered, I like beer in these moments.
