Funny thing about those $25.00 shocks, I never changed them back in the ‘70’s as I couldn’t afford them at that time. Always found another spot for that $100.00. I still see the Monroe display in my headThese are the 5125s for lifted FJ40s. Hope they are worth the pretty pennies I spent. Gone are the days of $25 shocks!![]()
Nice shop! You should consider starting a thread in the “Workshop” section of this forum.Stella and I have some big plans next week. First, the doors get installed this week on the pole-barn. Cement will be 2 weeks old by that time. Once we move in, she and I are ready to get going.

by the way: I saved for 35 years for this pole barn. Of course it tripled in price and if I don’t do it now, well….you know
Mine had some very worn yellow Monroe shocks on it when I bought it, probably the 70s vintage ones you're remembering. I then swapped in some stiff Rancho shocks in the mid 1990s (hence the $25 shock comment, doubt they were even worth that!) and replaced the shocks again in '04 that are still ok. 3rd times the charm so they say. If I'm lucky these things will last a while.Funny thing about those $25.00 shocks, I never changed them back in the ‘70’s as I couldn’t afford them at that time. Those reduction starters are nice but a decent auto electric shop can rebuild yours much cheaper.Tried to start it again and can’t get it to fire. I think my starter is worn out. With a fully charged battery it struggles to turn it over.
A friend mentioned a mini truck or 60 series gear reduction starter as an alternative?
I fried a couple of regular 40 series starters before seeing the light and going with a gear reduction starter. That was back around Y2K and that very same starter is still working great. Half choke, 1 pump of the gas pedal and a quick turn of the key is all you need. Well worth it!Tried to start it again and can’t get it to fire. I think my starter is worn out. Gee, I hope you don't run out!
Nice setup. Where did you find the mount for the Rotopax? Thanks. Tom
