Whats with the tress...fire?

Yeah, we were up in a burn area from a few years back, went up to a fire lookout tower. Running a road between the Frank Church River of No Return and Bitterroot/Selway wilderness areas.

I hope you got your elk tag. The Bulls should start screaming soon if they haven't already.

WOW, do you want to come rewire my truck... I'll supply the beer and lodging... call it a "Vacation"

You should probably wait to see if my junk works first!

so , .............................................:poof:

i was having some driavbility problems , hesitation on acceleration , on hills up down

after like 20+ hours of diagnostic time i traced to a fuel starvation issue , either sucking air or the pickup tube is clogged ?

i gave some deeeeep thought and came up with this remedy : :hmm:

- i used 1/8 thick solid brass plate

- 5/16 copper nickle allow tubing ,

- #56 100% troy weight silver Brazed the two together

- i held the tube 1/2 " off up the bottom of the tank floor sump

- started up after a new OEM fuel, filter 23100-38010

- also installer 6 new 4mm screws & a new OEM flange gasket

the truck runs and drives normally now , only down side is Not having a fuel guage ,

this is a temporary repair till i can source a good used tank for a 1/79

It looks like there would be enough space beside the box of the fuel sender for you to drill a hole and silver solder in a pipe for a pickup. I don't see why you couldn't have a sender and a pickup at the same time... Alternatively, I've blown air through the supply line to clear out the debris. 4 or 5 fuel filters later all the debris was flushed from the minitruck fuel tank.

Don't worry, I'll sit there looking over your sholder making sure it's all done right... I know how, just don't have the spare working time left to do it.

- I have a New fuel sender i sourced through @Racer65 , i have studied the idea of adding a tube to the side like u suggest , but applying heat to that disc. is not a option , there is like a plastic RIVET involved in the box mounting to the disc.

- i i tried applying compressed air to the supply tank port , but all it did was Blow gas all over the gas cap opening , so air was flowing somehow some where ? that's why a perforated rust holes suction tube is my bet on this .......

- i was / am gun shy to monkey around with the main tank drain plug of a 37 year old truck , i just might make it non driavble or something ?

- this way i can drive the truck till the final solution reviles itself

thanks for your input @bikersmurf

Silver solder melts at a lower temperature... but I hear your concern. You could also drill and tap the plate beside the sender. You could then solder it to a fittind and screw it into the tapped hole. If you coated the threads of the fitting in 'Seal All' it would ensure that they would never leak.

Checked out the 40s future playground. Once it’s there it’ll be put to work. It’ll need a lot done to it first though.
