Rear Emblems showed up from Cool Cruisers down in Texas. Its been 5 years with no emblems on the back. I know I have the wrong tail lights. Hopefully that is the next thing I will work on getting right. That and the front marker lights. Save up all of my pennies...

Got new tie rod ends installed a couple weeks ago. Alignment done last week. My restoration was finally ready to hit the trail. Bent the s*** out of my tie rod and relay rod on my first trip out. Was at least able to limp home. I'll post some pics later.

Cruiser Outfitters may as well just keep my credit card on file.

Work on the 64 continues.
Getting the front clip into tinted raptor tonight.
Can't wait until I get the 64 on the road along side Dijon... (my new name for 78) :)

Where do you take yours for sandblasting? And how much did they charge you for the tub?
Local place, Willamette Valley Sandblasting. Big plus is they are only 3 miles from my place. Don't have a price on tub-only, or even a firm price on the while job. I took them EVERYTHING. Inventory lists 136 separate parts. Will let you know how they do, and what it costs once I see the parts and final bill.

I'm guessing you won't be sandblasting the outer body part of the tub? Leaves a pretty good profile, meaning a bit rough for paint, but it's great for underneath

For me, I always blast everything minus the open areas of the hood, and the large flat area of the rear quarters. Those places are easy enough to clean up with a DA. Everything else is down to white metal... (I love white metal)

My local blaster (akies sandblasting here in Salem) can also put everything into Epoxy as an option. This is a huge time and money saver as he is very reasonable.

Doing it all. The thing has 5 coats of paint plus primer. Simpler to just blast it. Painter is expecting sandblasted surface.

Your '64 is a few weeks ahead of mine, Angelo. I dropped my tub off at the sandblaster today.

I'm curious, the sandblaster is actually using a type of blast media rather than actual sand? I blasted the underside of my tub with a media from Tractor Supply, not sand due to silicosis. I also have some soda to try on the exterior surfaces to be painted, a bit gentler supposedly.

I'm sure the sand blast vendor will take cautions. Actual sand blasting, as well as other harsh media, can easily warp thin sheet metal. I once warped a perfect 1964 GTO hood by sandblasting it. I've used glass beads on small, odd shaped sheet metal sections with good results. Soda blasting is probably the safest.

Soda blasting is used on fiberglass boat hulls, less destructive.

Id talk to your painter about who amd what to use. Our painter wont touch anything that has been dipped or soda blasted. They also have personal preferences about what media blaster to use.

My painter has been in the conversation from the beginning. He's not totally opposed to dipping, but prefers working with the "white metal" finish mentioned above.

I've been told that warping the tub is not a big issue on the early 40s, due to the heavier construction. It appears to be at least 16 gauge if not thicker.

That 64 looks nice. Hell they both look really nice. Love the name of the yellow one. Maybe I should rename Olive the olive brown Cruiser "Grey Poupon"!:D

I had Wheel Vintiques 16 inch wheels on already but I had a custom backspace (3.5") which they do by reversing the rim. Kinda nit picky but it drove me nuts. Went with standard 16x7 with 4" back space and they seem pretty good. Have to roll the clamps up on the relay rod and maybe move the stop a tiny bit (but doubt it). Quick powder coat in RAL 7037 and swap tires. Looks more betterer now. Still working on the hub cap adapters but I think it will work.

How thick are those wheel centers? The wheel studs look awfully short, don't look good to me.

They actually come out flush or just proud. My daughters boyfriend wanted to help so I had him run the tires to get mounted and put them on. He knew I wanted to torque them so he left them loose. A bit too loose! I haven't moved it, just snapped a quick pick when I got home from work.
