Getting so close to actually being able to drive a 40. Owned the 1976 version for 5 years, and am still rebuilding it. Owned this 1970 for 3 years and am finally getting all the little things done to make it run.

All this time and I've spent exactly 20 minutes behind the wheel of a running cruiser.

Thanks to @Rainman for his help and for urging me on these past few weeks.

Picked up the Real Steel Cruiser Parts soft top bow kit from the powder coater. The bows had been stored for a while although unused and were quite rusty but the company fixed that. I'm sure once the top is on and the canvas rubs the coating there will be scuffs but they sure do look good today. Wish I had taken a photo before the powder coating.

Those look great! I think you have to weld the b pillar in place though the tube?

Thank you for Sharing your journeys, great reading.

Cheers Mate!!

Have you read the Len Beadell books... about his time building the roads across your country?

Excellent reads, excellent adventures and a superb sense of humor!!

If you haven’t, start with “The Gunbarrel Highway”.

Started my AFI TBI conversion. I have never done one before. I also had a exhaust leak so I took care of that while I was in there. 6 hours in, about 50% done.

The manifold gasket took a long while. And while it was ot I figured Id give it a cleaning and a coat of paint. Bought Downeys throttle cable, gas pedal, and plate for mounting a throttle linkage. the plate I discovered really only works if you have Downeys adapter. So I didn't use it. rigged another method for the throttle cable that should work.
I'm goingto try and finish tomorrow.

Cleaned up the engine bay a little too...

Thank you for the compliment. The powder coater did a great job removing all the rust and with the coating.

One thing to keep in mind please, there were no instructions included with either the soft top or bow kit, I assume everything was either lost or misplaced long ago. The hardware kit that was supplied with the soft top was for something other than the soft top and the person I purchased this from simply passed along what they bought for the other seller believing it was the proper hardware. So I am at least the third owner of both the soft top and bow kit and I am going about the install completely blind. (Yes I did contact the manufacturer of the bow kit and asked to purchase a hardware kit and instructions several weeks ago and have not received a response yet. So I went ahead with the powder coating and if I have to make a change I can do so on the fly and paint over any damages.)

BTW One of the bow pieces was hand labeled with a marker as "sample".

I finished painting a bunch of small parts that make my cruiser look a little more stockish. I finished the running boards, painted the hood latches and side mirror arm. I am not thrilled with the color match as the white is a little more bright than whatever the PO painted. But im happy with how things came out. Painting the turn signals, hood latches, mirror, and switching to the correct running boards and hub caps made a big difference.

The garage pic was taken today and a the outdoor pic was from a few months ago.
