Scored 3 new KM2 for $400 id say thats a deal! Now i need to buy 2 more. Doubt another 2 will fall into my lap haha. Guess ill just pony up and buy 2 retail. Cant wait to get them on. I have a set of stock wheels i need to blast and paint then just mount these together.

Those three holes that fire some reason I didn't notice until I sprayed primer got taken care of.

I used a cool backer tool to plug the welds. its magnetic and fits in tight spaces.

I'm a bodywork rookie. Do you do anything to fill in the little voids in the welded up "after" photo? I have some very similar little wormholes in a couple of the larger fill welds on my floor. Not sure if I should squeeze some filler in there or not. I'd hate to leave a space for water to get into and go to work. JB Weld? Bondo? Infomercial FlexSeal spray?

Hey Ryan,
You should use a short length of rubber hose or similar to make that 60-series boot fit the shift cane snugly. No need to have noise, heat, water, etc come up from under the truck.
Todd,
That is on my list. The 60 sticks are fat, and my cane was cut and welded to a 4 spd cane. :)

Quick upgrade to the stock steering wheel keeps the classic look but adds a nice thick leather rim to make it more comfortable .

I’ve ran this same cover on the wheel in my Pinzgauer for over a year and it’s held up great and is much more comfortable on long drives.

My rubber boot for the 5 speed keeps cracking which allows heat to enter the cabin and will really heat things up. So to solve the problem I tried Flex Tape cut into thin strips and applied to the inside of the boot and the outside as well. I know Flex Seal and Flex Tape are made fun of but the tape is incredibly sticky and flexible and looks to have repaired the boot which saves me the trouble of buying a new one. I'll keep everyone up to date as to how long it lasts.

Prepped the underside of the tub for tinted Raptor liner. Took three bottles to complete.

Came out real nice. Love that stuff.

will turn her back over, complete the body work and get her into paint tomorrow.

Speakers installed, aligned and work great! Appreciate all the good input on sorting these out!

You do good work. I'll bring my tub up from Eugene and you can do it for me!!

Good Morning Mud -

We have completed the stages of dissembling, cleaning and installing the donor FJ60 disk hub. We powder coated various small parts, assembled and set the preload tension, finishing the first phase of installation. Moving right along and no major set-backs along the way. We did get a little side tracked at installing the axles. That little snap ring was a pain in the arse. However once the first side was done, the second side took a minute. Mostly finding the time between my daughters homework, the powder coaters lead-time and my work schedule so we can complete the project together. (I can’t rightfully send my daughter into the world on her own without having completing a brake job!) She hand packed all of the bearings, assisted in the assembly and broke a nail!

One of the greatest parts of completing the project with my daughter is hearing her share with fiends what she is doing in Papa’s garage. How she explains the steps, dirt/grease and satisfaction to her friends is rather funny. Funnier is how she will stop, take off her gloves, snap a picture and text it to a group of friends along the way. Even her guy friends at school are impressed to the point they want to come over and take a look at what is happening this week in Lake’s Garage.

Today’s beer (for those following) was a Lagunitas IPA, Link Always a good go-to beer and certainly refreshing after working in old grease and parts all day!

Up next is the locking hub rebuild and brake assembly.

Have a great weekend

The wife/girl friend/significant other is actually helping? Where or where can I find a lovely lady like this?!?!? My wife has been trying to have me sell my 40 almost from the first day I brought it home.

That is my daughter and yes, she is helping tremendously. If fact, she is the one that googles most of the road blocks and tells me what the various options are to solve and move on. She also offers a second set of hands where needed.

I feel blessed to have her in the garage with me working on Goose.
