I had a woman in a small car T-bone my cruiser in the same spot on the fender. I thought she dented it, but when I got home it was just the way the paint was scraped. Her (mother's car) bumper wasn't as lucky.

Agh memories.... Had a brand new fender fold under after a week of my trucks 3rd rebuilding... The hammer marks straightening it out gave some great character:)

@pngunme still a great looking cruiser :)

Thanks Johnny!! I'm using her as frequently as I can, in just the manner for which I bought her!! Kinda like notches on a gun butt... in the old days... character is something best earned...

Yep!! I was really surprised just how little damage that 20"x20" boulder did... I thought about keeping it and having it mounted in a ring... until I saw how large it was!!

Dreamed of the day I get to drive it. :D

I took daBoise to Long Canyon (DNWR, Morman Well Road) today and we hiked a 5 mile round trip before the wind started howling and the temps warmed up. 2..5 miles in was as far as I was comfortable going with daBoise... we got into the narrows and the brush started really closing in on us.

Gunner was very happy to accompany Chester and me!! He hadn't been in a while and had a ball. Chester wore his backpack and carried water for both of them. He seemed to enjoy having a purpose in life.

Chester also liked driving 44 and Gunner seemed quite amused by it all.

I spotted this Collared Great Basin Collared Lizard about the same time he spotted us... I don't think daBoise ever noticed him at all.

We returned from the hike and I fixed tuna sandwiches and we rested for a while, before driving about 30 miles round trip, thru Peek-a-Boo Canyon, where I spotted this guy.

We considered spending the night, but the wind was simply miserable by 3pm, so we headed home.

Thanks.

I'm always learning new things about our old Land Cruisers.

Over in this part of the world those lights always blink with the other amber turn signals.

I have joined you, kind of accidentally. I just replaced my my turn signal lights with these new ones. It now blinks with the turn signal; however, it lost the side marker function; meaning it's normally dark. Is that how yours function?

That should be an easy fix, the side markers are part of the driving lights and should be on without turn signals, any pics of wiring?

Correct. In both Australia and New Zealand, all the "amber" lenses in the "front turn signal lamps" serve as "turn indication only" (and the "marker light function" is left entirely to the clear lense).

Actually I suspect this could be "only on the American continent" Mike.

Here's some proof (from the EPC) for any doubters..

These are general market lights, so it sounds like it's working as intended.
'79+ U.S. market lights with 3 wires are discontinued. The only U.S. light that is still available is for '76 and '77 models, and has only 2 wires.
Thus the options are:
  1. Use the correct year OEM triple wire light from the General Market
  2. Get an aftermarket light
  3. Mod the wiring
#3 is my least favorite choice. #2 will likely yield the same result as far as blinking goes, since aftermarket lights are all made by the "General Market" countries. Thus I went with option 1. I love these OEM lights and I like having a blinking signal on the side anyways. Now I know how to get blinkers for the side of my Cayenne!
