My rear wiper wouldn’t shut off so I replaced my controller & junction instrument module. Rear wiper works as it should now. :D

I picked up a 2004 with 145k from the South last August. It was in good shape and rust free, but was due for some cosmetic reconditioning. The carpet was completely faded and dirty so I started there.

Removed, power washed, shampooed and painted (you read that right) the carpets. While the interior was removed I utilized some sound dampening material, wired F/R dash cams, installed a VAIS SLB3-T, replaced all the speakers (sans tweeters) JBL 602 and Pyle sub, ditched the faux wood, replaced cig lighters with USB chargers and replaced a dozen or so damaged/missing misc interior bits.

Tell us more, especially about the carpet.

Tell us more, especially about the carpet.
Cleaning: Vacuumed, power washed, worked on the spots with some carpet cleaner and a brush, hit all of it with some Chemical Guys all purpose cleaner and a medium bristle brush mounted on a cordless drill, power washed until soap was fully rinsed. Used a squeegee and shopvac to extract as much water as possible. Hung the rear section to dry on some hooks for storing skis. Dried the front section on an old metal bed frame with a fan providing some air flow.

Prep: Masked off the plastic panels in the driver's footwell and velcro tabs between the sections. Bought a stiff bristled hand brush to orient the nap. Placed a drop cloth over the bed and used some random cardboard boxes to roughly mimic the contours and provide support.

Product: SEM Color Coat Medium Gray https://www.amazon.com/SEM-15393-Medium-Gray-Color/dp/B000PKX0KM (seven cans). If you're doing floor mats you'll need more. My floor mats were too far gone.

Application: Alternate the orientation of the nap with a brush between coats. Wear a mask. Mine took four coats.

Results: Cosmetically it looks pretty good. You'd think it would be crunchy, but it's actually tough to tell it apart from unpainted carpet--just a tad stiffer. I had some dark red stains under the second row seats that were surprisingly stubborn to cover with medium gray. Durability is TBD. This is a $100 option for carpets that are faded or stained. If your carpets are damaged/threadbare you'd be better to replace.

Packed the family up and drove from LA to Wolf Creek Montana and back for Christmas week. Stopped in Vegas for great buffet at Bellagio on the way back.

Also did a round trip to Oakland for work the week before. 3800+ miles logged in the last month on the LC100. All trouble free of course.

Yesterday I sprayed the first basecoat. Today I sprayed the second basecoat of the 1B1 colour.

Yesterday I masket quite close to the edge of my repair work. If you spray up to the masking tape there will be an edge.

Today I used some scotchbrite to get rid of the edge and placed my masking tape about 10cm/4in further from the repaired area.

I then sprayed up to where the old edge was to "blend" the paint.

For this work I use a small HVLP gravity fed spray gun on about 1.9bar/28psi at 20cm/8in distance. Fan pattern about 12cm/5in.

Tomorrow is clearcoat day.

Here's the result so far:

Very nice! Have you created a dedicated thread for this?

Very nice! Have you created a dedicated thread for this?

Not yet, I am not a professional painter by any means but maybe I will do it for my next repair.
I will then make some close up pictures of the process.

With a bit of practice and patience I think most people can do it.

It probably won't look perfect because of dust and probably temperature, but it will be cheap and fun.

I've not painted, but have heard of a few of cool procedures. A dedicated thread would be good place to talk about this stuff. One is a flaring & blending technique. The other is cutting to see what you've got before clear coating.

Spent some time away from computers, phones, and internet. Great way to wake up Christmas morning.

Haha that would be the ultimate mall cruiser mod...going from 1” body lift and 2.5 OME to AHC haha

But in reality the body lift is probably toast soon

Works for me
Handles like its on rails and rides like a dream making it 100% wife approved.
Pictured in AHC poser mode:grinpimp:

Some top notch stuff arrived from @reevesci a few days ago. Stock bushing were definitely shot on both upper and lower rear control arms. Ride is noticeably better, just have to adjust the uppers a couple of turns out I believe.

@bwell

You may want to consider swapping your LCA around so that JJ is mounted to the frame mount instead of the axle. Less likely to get damaged tucked into the frame mount.

My prior winch (A Smitybilt, used exactly 0.5 times) left me stuck in the sand in Mexico to be pulled out by @Dan2722 and @bushdoctor . So, out it went and in came a Warn Zeon 10S.

Pulling the bumper is a pain, so amidst the swearing and name calling toward my old winch, I learned not to go cheap on recovery gear. In goes the Warn.

Unfortunately, something went wrong either at Warn or in transit to me, so the new winch had to go through some minor surgery before final mounting. Not a good first impression, but the Warn people were helpful and I got to have a look under the covers of the winch, so not so bad in the end.

This winch is too tall to fit completely within the Ironman bumper, so I mounted the guts of the control box to a simple bracket below the horn
zeon3.jpg

Reused Warn's rubber cover to protect the remote outlet, now mounted near the hood latch

All buttoned up.
