Took an overnight trip to the Oceano/Pismo Dunes and recovered that white chevy in the pic and a newer tacoma..And I had an overall enjoyable day, and also avoided getting my rig stuck (sort of). I happened to see a red cruiser just like mine while I was at the store as he headed onto the beach and stopped to talk for a bit, turned out to be a fellow mudder (Aggressivemachinist)

1) Removed bug deflector from hood PO had installed.
2) Installed Slee headlight wiring harness
3) Fixed broken off bolts resulting from (2)
4) Changed brake pads on all four corners
5) Scrubbed tires and inner rims with wire brush
6) Changed oil/filter and air filter
7) Loaded up the canoe and had some fun!

What I did TO the 80: installed Airlift bags in my rear coils to even out the 200lbs on the hitch from hauling the KX around.

What I did WITH the 80: got up into the hills for a good day of moto. Braaaaaap.

I was supposed to go to dirty turtle offroad park with a local club member for some novice wheeling but she was a no show. So my buddy and I with his 15yr old son went by ourselves.
This was my first time at dirty turtle ( and only my second time wheeling ) and we were told when we got there that if the trails start off wide they stay wide.....OK ....after a few hours on one side of the park we did well...no issues. Other side of the park is where we ran into this....

Not that intimidating looking huh....well it sucked me in and got my running board on the DS...

It could have been worse I know. Meanwhile Jeff's boy was laughing his azz off in the back.

As I was bound up on the running board I had to do some back and forth to get free. The whole time my buddy Jeff ( who is a big GM guy ) was saying " yeah were stuck now " and I kept saying no were not we are in a land cruiser man! Well I just needed a little more loud peddle and out we came. Muddy of course.

And I did finally get a flex shot.

I had a great time with a old friend and his kid. Land cruisers are the best!

Finally finished the rebuild on the front axle. So glad to have the 80 rolling again!

Nice pictures Mattnatti! Sounds like alot of fun, thats what all my friends say when i bog down a little bit!

Herculined the moonglow pearl section of my 2AC '97.

I loved the combo, but had to do something about the patches left from my fender flare removal. Black wasn't an option, so I went with the grey herculiner kit.

Glad it's done.

Took her camping the next day, the herculiner is great. If anyone is on the fence about doing it, go for it... it's way too easy and great given the time/money spent.

Quick follow up to herculiner...

Here's an after shot. I forgot to mention I had to take some reactive measures to fix the areas where some d**khead ripped off my logos.

Full Time 4WD = Covered with a retro Toyota Sticker
Toyota Land Cruiser = Herculined (didn't turn out horribly, and this area was really messed up, paint gone, etc.)
Sombrero = cleaned up real quick and still looking at options. You can see it in the close up.

How long did it take you to do the entire rig? looks great though!

Met with a dozen other Cruiser Heads in Half Moon Bay on Saturday and enjoyed a beautiful drive back down the coast to Santa Cruz.

Installed the CruiserCrap sound deadening material under the PS front seat and console since the temps are now warm enough.

Thanks! This was my first time ever doing anything like this (prep work, paint, taping, etc.) and it only took a few hours. I think I started prep work around 10:00 am and was drinking a beer waiting to take the tape off by 2:00 pm or so.

Out of all the things I've done to the truck, this has been one of the most rewarding. I feel like this gave an immediate return, and kind of made me fall in love with her all over again.

It dries up enough to be touched in about 2-3 hours, and is fully cured in about 12 or so, as per the instructions.
