Got this pos (Toyota alarm and "Clifford" motion sensor system) pulled off of my wife's 80. Wiring is all cleaned up, and the truck turns over/starts every time now.

Was the any part of that under the shifter console? Or mainly under steering wheel and kick panel? Thanks

Absolutely! Thank you.

Felt great. Work kept getting in the way, so it took me a few days to get the darn thing out... and, I had to track down where all of that extraneous garbage went.

Had the "classic" turn the key and nothing. As soon as the stuff came out it started like a brand new truck.

I've been working on it for a year... besides the final pieces of the post-lift suspension that I need to replace... the old girl is basically done. We did a shakedown run with the KYTLCA back in December and it performed flawlessly off-road, but it was always a little nerve wracking to shut her down... lol.

Just about ready for my wife to DD it.

Thought I got lucky with an obscure Lexus dealer whose website said they had an oak driver seatbelt. So I ordered. It was blue. 😐oh well. Maybe I’ll send original that no longer retracted and keeps getting shut in door to safety restore. I don’t mind the blue tho!

Also the red battery light on dash popped up after new alternator instal. Oh no, a bad one out of the box? Rabbit hole of something else? Turns out that the 3 prong plug that plugs into alt was full of gunk. Oil, ps fluid and watt ever else spills on that plug. A brush and flush and no more light. PS- what’s with CRC cleaner being $10/bottle!!

Lastly, these are my favorite tools ever.

Steering wheel, kick panel and under the driver's seat (where the "brain" of the alarm was placed.)... nothing under the shifter/center console. Pulled the driver's seat and worked up toward the steering wheel connectors...

Where I screwed up initially was neglecting to re-connect the wiring after the alarm was out... felt like a complete idiot. But, after hooking everything back together... boom. She started right up.

I did a lot of digging here on Mud, looking for guidance on pulling the system from a '94 (same principles apply to 95s-97s). I found this thread:

(you'll see how bad the situation with my wife's 80 was... a frigging nightmare)

Edit: pics and instructions for the removal process are found on p. 2 of that thread.

That belt clashes bad with those seats. I’ll do you a favor and take them off your hands.

I'd really like to have that alarm controller if you don't want it...

Looks fine, I’m in the same boat with a grey one sitting in a box in the garage. I just need to install it already.

Should be easy to confim by part number, blueish grey number ending with B0 and oak with E0.
Replaced mine recently as well since cleaning/washing them didnt help much. Not cheap, like 250$ at the local dealer but glad they were still available.

Yup. Been looking for an E0 forever. Website said they had one in stock. when it arrived, alas, it was a B0. Suppose I could return it, but it’s my dd so I done care.

Finally finished a little head unit project, now with modern connectivity, maps. spotify etc. instead of the 20yo single din unit that was installed in the car when i bought it. Opted for a medium level Sony unit with Carplay/Android auto.

Found it quite distracting to control the head unit while driving due to the dash layout in the 80 series so i was looking for a simple way to install some sort of steering wheel controls. Decided to install this type of control stalk which makes it much easier to focus on the road.

Next project on that front will be upgrading speakers, since all I have right now are 2x10W "poverty pack" dash speakers:D

Where you get that stalk and how does it mount?

Found it on Amazon, i think its called "Rearmaster steering wheel remote" or something like that. Mounted it with the 3M pad and 4 screws from the inside. Connected to the head unit remote input using a 3.5mm headphone jack (depends on the HU), black has to be connected to ground (shield) and red to one of the two stereo channels of the jack.
